Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went with family for a picnic at the top. Was disappointment that at the top there is only one picnic table. That one was being use, so had to sit on the grass/dirt to eat. Besides this the views are wonderful of the city. Area gets very crowded and parking can be hard to come by. Plan of having to park and walk a ways to you location. No parking at the top, so have to be able to walk up hills.

Walking among tall trees and birds singing so beautiful and quiet. It is a must see in Portland. It has a place for kids to play and the Visitors Center was only open outside. I bought a really nice cap fior $15!!!

A very pretty park with nice views of Portland. Very relaxing forest paths including a short walk around a small, historical, reservoir. A nice break from exploring downtown Portland.

Message for the first reviewer: Hellooo? Don't leave valuables like that in a parked car in ANY city park, anywhere! I live close to Mt Tabor, and I love it. I am a woman who hikes and runs on the trails alone all the time, and have never felt uncomfortable there. There are enough visitors around that I am not unsafe, yet the park is not crowded. It is a beautiful place with wonderful views of the city, and on clear days, you can see Mt Hood as well. Portland is an incredible city, with many green spaces, and this is one of my favorite.

The park itself is good. We had a good time walking around the woods inhaling loads of fresh air. But the terrible thing that happened was that, when we returned to our car, the car window was smashed and two of our bags were stolen. One bag had a 5 month old DELL laptop in it and another bag one had passports, our house and car keys, flight boarding passes and many other important documents in it. We were really in a mess after that, b'coz in one hour time we had a flight to catch. Luckily we made it in time for our flight. But the mental hurt that was caused will take sometime to heal. So please...please...anyone visiting this park or any place for that matter, never leave your valuble belongings in a visible place in your car. We learned a very expensive lesson, via some really stupid "animals" who did it.

Best kept secret in Portland. We loved the hike and the trails. Just get the right shoes and gears since the terrain can be a little tricky on rainy days.

While I loved the walking paths
, views, and loads of areas for families and kids, I was quite upset to find signs all over the park notifying of the use of Roundup. Especially with the number of camp kids I saw while there, just unacceptable.

I stayed about two blocks from this park, and used it every day on my vacation. There are mulched trails as well as paved roads, so you can bike or hike or dog-walk all over the park. It's a steep volcanic cone, so it's a good workout. There are picnic facilities, playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts. Everyone in the neighborhood seems to go there, and there are lots of community events (Mommy and Me exercise, evening concerts, etc.) There is also a nice little Visitor Center staffed by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, so stop by and support the Park by buying a T-shirt or hat with a beautiful graphic logo of the park.

I lived next door to this park for over a year before my first visit. Once I "discovered" it, I was there all the time. Great playground if you have little kids. Lots of wide, open areas for a picnic and small get together. Lots of concrete steps for those needing exercise. Great short walks that very quickly made you feel like you're way out in the woods instead of feet away from crowds and homes. I loved going up there for walks, by myself or with others. And, like many of the parks around Portland, you never seem to find all the hidden treasures.

Portland is known for the gardens, parks, and outdoor attractions. This park is appartently pretty much kept secret for the locals, but it is well worth yuour efforts to explore. 3 different levels of trails/hikes; beautitul views, clean and gorgeous green woods to walk through; friendly staff at the visitor center (thanks David!). I was most impressed with this city park.
