I was saddened to see that this beautiful public space no longer has restrooms. Restrooms have been taken over by homeless people who have rendered them unsafe for travelers.

You might say there's a lot of flavor down there, you might also say that you can see America's economic inequality staring you in the face. Literally.... More

Union Station has friendly employees who are very helpful for travelers. The station is a beautiful, old building that houses a really nice restaurant, lounge for travelers and amenities needed for your journey. You can easily connect at the station to Portland light rail and city busses. You can connect to the airport via light rail (MAX). The station is... More

Beautiful old classic station. Burger & fries from the take-out place inside were better than I expected. If you're on the 6:00 am train though be aware that they don't open the building until 5:30.

My husband and I used the bus and train service during our recent vacation to Portland. While our experience was pleasant and the staff provided us with excellent information, the area near Union Station seems questionably safe.

I have been at this station several times. I was in the Amtrak lounge, where light snacks and beverages are offered. It is very comfortable, and staffed with very nice people.

Yeah, Union Station is a trip back in time. You can easily get there by walking from the local Light rail System (MAX), or a Tri-met Bus. It's just a few blocks away from the main streets. And as you get closer to the station you find yourself transported back in time-- to The Great Depression. You walk by various... More

It would be better with a first class lounge, but still a very pretty place to catch the train. The gift shop has some good items and the staff are present so you have a way to ask questions and it feels safe. A nice portal to enter (and leave) Portland.

We had a couple-hour layover here and I was impressed by the building. There was neat little neon signs for the different areas and the staff was very nice and helpful. We wanted to go visit Powell's and the attendant in the Amtrak Metro Lounge gave us a map and marked the way. He also pointed out the area to... More
