Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This year I received the best Father's Day gift ever. My son, James, purchased tickets for the MLS (major league soccer) Timbers vs the Colorado Rapids. Through Craigs List, he managed two tickets to sit in the Timbers Army section of Jeld Wen Field.
Jeld Wen Field (named for a local window company) is the most recent iteration of Multnomah Stadium, which in some form or another has occupied this site since 1893. Back when dinosaurs roamed Burnside, i attended college football games and the AAA baseball Portland Beavers in Multnomah Stadium. The MLS made a deal with the City of Portland, creating a single use field for soccer. The seating areas are much improved and the vast majority of seats are covered. (As the Rose City is no stranger to precipitation, covered seats are actually a pretty big deal.) The actual pitch is a first rate surface for soccer. In the process, Portland lost its AAA baseball team.
I was vaguely aware of the Timbers Army, the group that comes to each game to support the Timbers. The Army sits in the end zone (actually they stand throughout most of the game) and clap sing and chant in unison through out the contest. I found it both delightful and amazing. If you follow in my footsteps, you might want to sit above the rail where the noise level is a little lower. I reveled in the infectious camaraderie of the Army section.
This year the young franchise has a new coach, Caleb Porter. He has put together a winning team. On the day of my visit, Portland scored first and then played a wonderful defensive game, frustrating the opposition with their patience and organization. The Timbers Army, knowledgeable fans, patiently supported this disciplined defensive game continuously. It was an awesome experience.
Who knows how long the Timbers will benefit from Coach Porter. If you are a charismatic fan of soccer, i'd get a ticket today and sit with the Timber Army.

This was me and my families first MLS game. It’s was exciting. The chants coming from both team fans are very entertaining. Providence Park is fan friendly and clean.

Timbers fans disrespectful during national anthem, they booed and flipped off all stars. Did their local chants and did not support all players. Not a place to take kids

The best place in North America to see a soccer game, the atmosphere is electric. Will gladly make the trip again to see a game.

We use to take a bunch of kids each summer to the baseball games. No more, only soccer. I miss the minor league baseball games.

Home to the Portland Timbers and a fabulous venue for football (soccer). Food is reasonable, albeit a little pricey. Good selection of beers and what more needs to be said other than RCTID!

This was a great classic style ballpark that is now a Soccer Stadium. Going to baseball games here was an awesome experience that I greatly miss.

I love this park. Took my family there over the weekend. What a game! I hope they don't stop playing baseball there next year.
