Food, movies, bars, soaking pool... all fun, and uniquely Portland. Kennedy School, Edgefield, and the Crystal Ballroom are a trifecta of McMenamins... service at the restaurants is always spotty, but we still go back.

The McMenamin brothers certainly know how to turn a dilapidated building into a source of income for selves and community. I have coordinated 3 events here. Using the Gymnasium and smaller rooms. I always found the catering/event planning staff to be very helpful displaying that...More

Another place in Portland that has many ways to keep you busy. If you are inclined book a room, and knock yourself out. Lots to do and consume from food and drink, to a cigar room and a vintage Distilled spirits room.

The Kennedy school is they type of place that could only thrive in Portland. People here are so in to the old, the wierd, and the unique that a place like the Kennedy school can be packed for dinner even when they serve blah food....More

This is but one of McMenimum's unusal establishments. Have a good meal, a great microbrew, catch a movie in the gym, a cigar in the principal's office, spend the night in your own classroom. All their locations are unique and fun to visit.

This one of my favorites of the chain. They really kept the charm of the school and filled the halls with Fantastic Art and History. Also don't forget the Detention room so much fun if a little tight. A Beer and a movie sound pretty...More

The food has gone downhill considerably in the last couple of years. The service--worse yet. I'll not go there for a meal again. The last four times were awful. Here is what we experienced over the last four visits: the waiter forgot about us--we waited...More

This is an old gradeschool converted into a midscale restaurant, moderately priced hotel and performance center in the old school gym. Much of the original school design is in place, along with the exquisite and original art the owners put into all of their properties....More

Food is good. Take a tour of the several different bars and eating areas upstairs and down and pick the one that suits your mood . There's a family friendly seating area, a darker noisy grown-up bar, a sporting type of bar, etc. Big parking...More

Lots of different bars make this location different from some of the other locations, and with a movie theater and hotel you can party the night away for a weekend or just a good night out.
