I've been enjoying this neighborhood spot for a year now and it's my favorite. I've enjoyed a number of items on the regular and happy hour menus. The staff do a really good job or making regulars and newbies feel comfortable and welcomed. The ambience is warm and inviting. Some of my favorite dishes are the caesar salad, meatballs, burger... We had such a nice dinner at Sapphire. We were exhausted after a very long day of travel, and Sapphire offered the perfect blend of community and private dining. Lots of people were there with us, but we felt alone at the table.. perfect. The food was great, and offered something for everyone (the carnivore and the gluten free/vegetarian both... More

Came here on our final night in Portland. We were drawn by the multitude of options for cocktails but were blown away by the beet burger and farmers board- where you can choose your cheeses and protein. We went with a brie, a sheep milk, and a chicken liver with cranberry mousse. Figs, roasted garlic, toasted almonds, candied walnuts, and... More

What a wonderful find in Portland on Hawthorne. Primarily known for excellent and innovative cocktails, Sapphire has a wonderful selection of foods with emphasis on sharable appetizers. The server was excellent, not only in knowing the menu perfectly but also a great source for interesting and tasty recommendations. I met a small group of friends for happy hour, we shared... More

The Sapphire Hotel has a pretty seedy history on the southeast side of Portland. Nothing seedy about the bar, though. This bar is a wonderful, old-time elegant (yet unaffected) place to be seen while imbibing the most imaginative cocktails and nibbling on a fine variety of delicious food. I have hung out here with a crowd of girlfriends after a... More

Actually Hawthorne continues – the bend takes you onto SE 50th – so you might miss this little gem. Great cocktails and starters crafted with quality ingredients and served by friendly and attentive staff. We'll be back.

Great winter evening spot with spot-on warming entrees and libations. The french onion soup is to die for and a perfect remedy for a cold. Be sure to have it with an Irish whiskey hot toddy! Oh my friend loves that the bourbon on the rocks is served with one large ice cube. The butternut squash and artichoke/arugula dip is... More

Our friend brought us to Sapphire Bar for a late night drink while we were visiting Portland. I thought the atmosphere and drink selection was great. If you're a fan of mixed drinks, this is a must when you're in Portland.

This was unique and enjoyable bar to check out off the beaten path in Portland. It's no longer a hotel, but now a bad [--] bar scene. It has a unique history, apparently a seedy hotel back in the day bustling with ladies of the night and ubiquitous patrons. It maintains a lot of allure and the eclectic decor keeps... More

This place is really cool- its in an old hotel/brothel and the ambiance is very chill but hip. The drink menu is spectacular. My husband and I came here for happy hour and had some snacks before we went down the street for dinner. Definitely a great unique place to check out in Portland!
