A great place to take visitors to Salem to learn the city's early history. Victorian house with knowledgeable docents. 45 minutes and interesting. Inexpensive. Gardens beautifully maintained by volunteers.

We went on a rainy day the house is very nice ,it had lots of stain glass and a neat fire place ,over all it is like many other houses from the era there did not seem to be any interesting fact about the house or owners of the house but the house was beautiful and the grounds are lovely... More

If I return to this location, and I may, I will likely have to update the review. We arrived during the annual Deepwood Vintage Market event on 9/17/16. This was a gathering of local folks hawking old stuff to people into buying someone else's cast-offs. This would normally be a great thing, but for us, it meant they closed the... More

We were so fortunate to have a visit to this lovely piece of Salem's history on a Friday morning in early September. We went to the door about 20 minutes before 11:00 (the tours are scheduled on the hour at 10:00, 11:00 and Noon) and rang the bell per the sign out front. Jill, the volunteer tour guide appeared and... More

We visited as part of a Senior group tour. The grounds are separated into small garden areas and nature trails. The gardens are lovingly tended by many volunteers. We had a delicious High Tea style lunch and finished with a knowledgeable tour of the house.

Tried to visit and tour the mansion on a Monday but it was closed so we walked the trails around the property and visited the gardens. It was very enjoyable but I really wanted to see the inside! Next trip I will plan accordingly.

I attended a wedding here just last weekend. The place is gorgeous and such an idyllic setting for the event. My only caveats are that the restrooms are located near the parking lot, while the wedding venue and reception were a little farther away - because the estate is gardens and landscaping it was not very ADA-friendly. My mom who... More

We missed the last house tour by 6 min but really enjoyed walking the grounds. Very peaceful and even though it was too early in the season for much to be in bloom it was a wonderful experience. I was very happy the City of Salem allows free access to the paths and grounds. An unlocked bathroom would have been... More

If you're in Salem this is definitely worth a visit. We did the regular tour, which takes an hour and is very informative, but they offer a number of other fun events like a tea. The tour guide was top notch and patiently answered all of our questions. The gardens are dormant in February but I'm sure they would be... More
