Beautiful view of Mt. Hood

From Jonsrud Viewpoint you can catch really beautiful view of Mt. Hood. There is also some early European settlement history explained at the viewpoint. Worth a stop.

This viewpoint is definitely worth a stop at if you are in the area of Sandy, Oregon. We drove by from the Portland airport to Welches/Mt. Hood. It's only about a mile off Highway 26, on Bluff Road. You'll see signs for it. There is a parking lot at the viewpoint, but a little tight to get into. The viewpoint... More

Parking lot is small but when we came here on a Monday morning at 10ish, we had it all to ourselves. There is a free telescope so you can see a lot. Mid-day will prob be the best time to stop here. There are other better views so if you're pressed for time, skip this one. The view is pretty... More

This is not a view of Mt. Hood that I had seen before, except in pictures, so one day on the way back to Government Camp from the airport I stopped. It was early afternoon, so the light for taking pictures wasn't great, but I did enjoy the view. I stopped here another morning, on the way to the airport,... More

When the clouds are away, this view is stunning. People are always lined up taking photos and on a clear day it is rather spectacular.

We arrived around 10:30 am and there was still a bit of the morning haze, but the view was pretty. Though, if you're doing the Mt Hood scenic loop (stop by Panoramic Pt in Hood River!) or only have a certain amount of time, I'd skip this one. There are definitely better views of the mountain as you get closer.

We took a day trip up to Timberline Lodge yesterday and after some on-line Trip Advisor searching beforehand, stopped off at the Jonsrud Viewpoint off Bluff Road in Sandy just a couple of miles off Hwy 26. This viewpoint is easy to miss due to the sign being somewhat smaller than expected, but it was well worth the turn around... More

Jonsrud Viewpoint, located a short distance out of Sandy, OR, is one of the best places to get great photos of Mt. Hood. It's very easy to find, and on a well traveled street Just put in "Jonsrud Viewpoint" in your navigator and you'll have no trouble. A clear day is best to take pictures of the mountain, and it's... An absolutely amazing view, especially during the winter when there's snow on Mt. Hood. The informational signs are also very interesting about the history of the area and how settlers originally traversed through the area. Definitely a must stop spot on the way to Mt. Hood!
