I love to stay at the Mt. Hood Lodge. I climbed the mountain starting from there at one time. It is a bit dated as it was built in the depression days as a works project. The magnificient fireplace and the use of woods throughout add a charm and special feeling. It can be a bit drafty when it is... More

My wife is a big movie buff and recounted the scenes from the Shining that were filmed here at the lodge. I don't get it that much but she's into it which is fine, I enjoyed just climbing up the mountain as far as my 69 yr young legs and lungs could carry me. The walk from the parking area... More

This was used in the opening scene of the classic horror film, "The Shining." It offers the longest ski season in North America and is always jumping. What is daunting is looking out one's guest room window at the direct path up to Mt. Hood, with its ever present potential to become an active stratovolcano. We were treated wonderfully and... More

Visiting our son in Portland and they took us up to mount Hood for a hike and then dinner. The lodge itself is amazing. The timbers they used to build the place are beyond explanation, this says nothing about the massive fireplace. Oh ya, this is about out the food!! Ate in the main restaurant. We both had salmon and... More

Great hotel, very historic, built in the 30's as a WPA project. A must stay if you can afford the high prices.

I came here to hike and Mountain Bike with a close friend. We had a magnificent time and enjoyed the views. We went to Trillium Lake and hiked around the entire lake. It was beautiful to see at night.

The lodge is a beautiful historical landmark. However, if like me you are wondering why there are rooms left on a Saturday night 2 days after Christmas, wonder mo more: the lodge is simply overpriced and badly organized. $325 + tax for a small room with a "queen" that feels like a single bed. Window doesn't close shut, imagine the... More

The architecture is awesome! Nice view of MT Hood from the timberline. The movie "the Shinning" was filmed here. We really enjoyed our visit to Timberline Lodge
