Amish Country Tours is the oldest operating tour company in Amish Country, and the only operator with certified guides. Far from the commercial clutter of Route 30, the Amish Experience at Plain & Fancy Farm sits on Route 340 between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, a non-commercial AAA designated Scenic Cultural Byway, surrounded by Amish farms. Our exclusive Amish Visit-in-Person Tour is the only opportunity of its kind to allow for close interaction with the Amish at work, at milking time, and in the home, and the only tour designated by the County of Lancaster as an official Heritage Tour. It is limited to 14 guests on our mini-shuttles.

We went with the ‘super saving package’, and all the tours were wonderful. Special thanks to our farmland tour guide Daniel, who is very informative, knowledgeable and humorous. The other tour guide Joe who led us in the Amish house tour was also very informative....More

Had a wonderful time. We are from Louisiana so the culture and countryside is so different from ours. Movie was excellent. The dairy tour was excellent. They have a schoolhouse and farmhouse right there for you to tour. Very different.

As a tourist with no car, I really enjoyed my day here. I caught the Amtrak from Philadelphia, and took an Uber to the Plain and Fancy Farm. I had plenty of time to do the bus tour of farmland, watch the movie, tour the...More

We had friends visiting from Phoenix, so this was their first real exposure to Amish life. We enjoyed all of it, from the bus tour and buggy ride to the theater presentation and house/school tour. If I were to do it again, I'd choose to...More

This was my first trip to Lancaster County. Our tour guide Jim Reed was spectacular! He was very knowledgeable about the culture and area. He also had a great personality and sense of humor that kept the tour interesting.

You can read books, sight-see from your car, follow the carriages, even spend a very limited time visiting an Amish business, but nothing will illuminate you regarding real Amish life like being immersed in it for a substantial period of time. That's what the "Visit...More

Dear Louis, Thank you for your great review! I'm glad to hear that the VIP Tour was such a great choice for you. Just wanted to mention for potential guests that the tour is $59.95 for ages 17+. We'll look forward to seeing you again!

We liked the idea of the VIP Tour because we didn't know of any other way to have an opportunity to interact with Amish. Ultimately, we appreciated the tour because it did give us that opportunity. But that being said, we were disappointed. We found...More

Thank you for the response. We’ll definitely address your comments with the guide. I did want to mention that the VIP Tour is less focused on giving in-depth information about the “how’s” and “whys” of the Amish (the SuperSaver Tour is geared towards that) and...More

I thought tour was very good. Did the super saver. Jim was an excellent tour guide. Learned a lot about differences in Amish and Mennonites I didn't know before.

The package includes a tour in a van, with running commentary by the guide. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Provided good info about the Amish lifestyle, and dispelled some misconceptions. Stopped at a farm/quilt shop. After that, a movie about a young man making his choice...More

Thank you for your question! Fall can be busy for us at Amish Experience, but probably not as much as during the summer, particularly if you are coming during a weekday.
