Amish Country Tours is the oldest operating tour company in Amish Country,...

Amish Country Tours is the oldest operating tour company in Amish Country, and the only operator with certified guides. Far from the commercial clutter of Route 30, the Amish Experience at Plain & Fancy Farm sits on Route 340 between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, a non-commercial AAA designated Scenic Cultural Byway, surrounded by Amish farms.

Our exclusive Amish Visit-in-Person Tour is the only opportunity of its kind to allow for close interaction with the Amish at work, at milking time, and in the home, and the only tour designated by the County of Lancaster as an official Heritage Tour. It is limited to 14 guests on our mini-shuttles.

Visiting here is like stepping back in time. Seeing the Amish traveling in horse drawn buggies is fun to see. There are many one lane covered bridges in the area. They are well kept and nice to explore the surroundings. The big farms are beautiful. There are small shops that sell area crafts and quilts. The restaurants have traditional Amish... More

Just before starting your tour, ask for Bill E. Great guy that will give a tremendous amount of knowledge, very funny and friendly person.

We visited Amish country before but never in December in the middle of the week. A lot of the shop, craft, etc were closed or opened late and closed early. I imagine it is different on Saturday. We did notice that most places are closed on Sunday. Would recommend visiting this area in the spring or summer. Unless you visit... More

Thank you for your comments! Spring and summer are definitely a great time to visit. If you are here in December and looking for something to do in the evening, you should check out our Christmas Victorian Magic Lantern Show right here at Plain & Fancy Farm. It runs at select times. We hope to see you next season! More

Tried to visit but found that in winter the tours are only on the weekends, so check before you go. We did visit the Plain and Fancy gift shop and found they had a very varied selection of local goods. Will return in the summer

I had the luck to go on a day in November right after Thansgiving and my daughter and I were so pleased with the tour. We did the whole experience and it was worth every red cent. We went through the Amish house and learned about their daily lives and clothe color meanings . So authentic and special. I had... More

Dear Julia, Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review! So glad that you found our Homestead & Schoolroom tour authentic and enjoyable! While we work directly with Amish people on our Visit-In-Person Tour, non of our tour guides are actually Amish themselves. But it's very encouraging to hear the guide was so knowledgeable! Thank you... More

We took the ride through and around the Farm estate on a bright and crisp afternoon. It was good to slow down the pace and learn of some of the features of life in the Amish Community.

I was worried that this experience would be too "touristy" or "hokey" for my 2 teen age kids, but they actually learned a lot and really enjoyed our day here! We bought the entire experience and our buggy ride was free. Very nice! John, our Amish buggy driver, was very honest and open about his lifestyle and answered all of... More

Educational without being stuffy. Tour gave a nice amount of information on Amish customs, but was short enough that kids wouldn't get too fidgety. Unfortunately it was raining the day we went so we didn't tour the farm. Would recommend.

The Amish Experience was surprisingly educational and very well organized. The guides we had for the day, Dan and Bernice were not only a wealth of knowledge, but entertaining and likable! They made you feel like you were part of the community. The best part was that our bus tour guide, Bernice, has a relationship with many of the locals... More
