Amazing experience for our family! Francesco explained the entire process from grape to bottle, showing us the cellars and the storage process. The tasting experience included an amazing lunch of antipasti, pasta, dulce, and of course the delicious wines, olive oil, and jams made in the winery. We plan to take all our guests to this incredible place!

Chiara coordinated our family’s Sunday afternoon visit. After a quick tour of the vineyard, we settled at a table for wine tasting and a lunch made by mamma. Both the wine and lunch were amazing and we truly enjoyed talking with Chiara and mamma while we ate. We bought a few cases of taurasi and fiano. It’s less than 1 1/2 hr from Naples and worth the visit to this small family vineyard.

I write this while drinking an amazing 2010 Taurasi purchased after our tasting, lunch, and tour. This vineyard will be famous. You will be so glad to visit, happier to taste, and like heaven if you are treated to family baking and jam.

We toured lots of wineries in Italy this month. This pleasant surprise tops them all!

Thank you and we will be ordering all we can to enjoy and remember your hospitality.

My husband and I visited Antico Castello Winery as part of an all day tour. We were staying in Sorrento and the Winery was approximately 2 hours away by car. From the moment we arrived Francesco was very welcoming and hospitable as we toured the winery and were educated on the process. We then went to the tasting room where we had the opportunity to meet his sister Chiara, taste some wonderful wines, and sample some amazing food. We enjoyed it so much we purchased a case and are eagerly awaiting delivery.

I would highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in the area.

My wife and I had the opportunity to receive a tour from Chiara, and the passion came out from the first moments. The blending of new and old was amazing to see throughout the entire process. During the pairing of wines and foods, it was incredible to just sit and converse with both Chiara and her mother, who grew many of the foods we were eating. The love and excitement they seem to have just speaking about the wonderful foods and wines exuded the entire time. The Taurasi was amazing, and I have never had anything quite like the Onion Jam they produce. We will certainly be making some purchases to ship to the States.

(thank you Gaetano: the winebus tour owner for the recommendation and ride)
Our visit to Antico Castello winery was truly a highlight of our trip to the Taurasi DOCG region. From the moment we arrived, Francesco made us feel incredibly welcome with his warmth and enthusiasm, as you would expect from an engineer; maybe I’m biased :)

Francesco guided us through the cellar (and the vineyard after that), sharing the fascinating history of the family winery and the traditional while contemporary appracoch they use to craft their wines (the maceration, the wood for aging, the duration beyond DOCG rules, etc.). His understanding of history, art and science of wine and above all passion for winemaking was clear and truly made the experience special. We had the pleasure of tasting the Greco 2019 i believe (Irpinia DOC but as good as the di Tufo), Taurasi 2016 (a very special one), and one all the Taurasi Reserva 2013. That was my favorite for the day, or let me say the trip with true strong yet approachable strength, the delicate tannins of a Barolo/Bronello with the elegant nose of a barcersco (or I may even extend to a grand cru Burgandy; I’m sure you won’ take my word, try for yourself), leave the 2013 to breath a bit in the glass or in the cellar for a few years (or a decade). Each wine was outstanding, showcasing the unique characteristics of the region, the terroir and the cru (actually each was a single vineyard, cru, as you will see in the winery tasting room wall).

Chiara, the sister, and their mom were also wonderful, contributing to the welcoming atmosphere and sharing delightful stories about their family's winemaking and hospitality traditions. The personal touch and family spirit at Antico Castello made our visit unforgettable. The Dr mom's food fresh from the kitchen esp the tiramisu will have you come for the food alone (check the tiramisu recipie on their YouTube channel)

If you're ever in the Taurasi region, I highly recommend a visit to Antico Castello. Francesco and his family will ensure you have an exceptional experience! (come with Gaetano of course)

The hosts were warm, generous and enthusiastic about their winery startup and produce some unique and refreshing tastes in aged white, red and rose wines using grapes indigenous to the south-western Amalfi coast and inland mountainous region. The tasting included several different varieties of wine and plates with meats, cheeses, breads sticks, crackers and pickles on a beautifully set table situated in a wine storage room surrounded by wood barrels where visitors are welcomed and treated like friends.

Fabulous place! If I could rate higher I would! We arrived and were greeted with big warm smiles and then taken to see the vineyards, machinery and cellar. Fantastic knowledge of the wine and the process! Then came the best part!!! Food was delicious, wine was fab (had to buy some and bring back to England for Christmas Day) and the setting beautiful.

Host sat with us and explained all about the local food, when and who set the vineyard up and the difficulties they had to overcome to make it the vineyard it is today. Host sat and ate and enjoyed some wine with us which made it feel so personalised. Mamma was a fabulous cook and we will be recommending this vineyard to anyone we know coming to Italy! Please please please, get the wine to England! We will be ordering in bulk when we need a top up!

Thank you so much for your great hospitality!
