King's Gap Mansion View
Jul 2019
I love the drive alone just to get there. Its winding, beautiful and immersed in the forest. I would definitely go when you can get a tour of the mansion. There is a lot of history inside and outside of the mansion. Plus, several hiking trails that leave and return from the area. Bring your camera! You are going to want to take photos.

Christmas at the mansion is always wonderful
Dec 2018 • Friends
The open house events during the holiday season are always worth the trip up the hill. The mansion is open to the public at various times, check the schedule before visiting.

Huge place
Dec 2017 • Couples
Huge place..we went around Christmas and it was all decked out in lights. They sometimes have homemade goodies and hot drinks..but there is a small chance and it gets very busy so there is alot of standing in the cold

Lovely place. Beautiful decorations for the holiday. Friendly staff. Great entertainment. Only drawback is no handicap accessibility to second floor.

Open House at the Mansion
Dec 2016 • Family
Wife and two kids went during the open house. The upstairs was open and got to see the rooms. Love the mansion and views.

Strongly recommend if you want a place to relax and walk around. They have a big garden at the mansion and plenty of trails to hike.

Go, take a picnic basket and enjoy yourself.

Lovely old mansion with an amazing view
Jun 2016 • Friends
This is a beautiful old home up on a hill overlooking the Cumberland Valley. It's in the King's Gap State Park, which is well worth a visit, esp. in the spring or fall. Sometimes the park holds events for children, and sometimes for adults. There is always something going on if you check the website for King's Gap. The mansion also has some interesting art on the walls.

We were just there for a friends wedding, what a site. The view from the Mansion was spectacular! The inside was great and comfortable. We even spent the night and it was all fantastic.

Mountain top beauty
Oct 2015 • Couples
Kings Gap, as people around Carlisle know it, is a very beautiful location. The drive up is wonderful with lots of deer to be seen. Once at the top you see the mansion. During the summer they have music programs in the evening. We take our chairs and enjoy the music as well as being outdoors. Food vendors are on site.

The view from the top
May 2016 • Couples
We've been coming here for years, and have toured the mansion several times.

The mansion is part of Kings Gap Environmental Education Center - part of the state park system. It's at the top of the mountain - and at the end of a long and winding road. There's some interesting local history here - you can usually get a little brochure about it when the house is open.

The mansion itself is only open to the public a few days a year. Check the dates for the holiday open house or one of the music on the mountain events, and go take a look around. The mansion is used as a conference center, and can be rented out, so don't expect a lot of true period decoration.

Even when the mansion isn't open, you can walk out on the back patio and see the Cumberland Valley spread out below you. There are numerous hiking trails and a nice garden to wander around.

Kings Gap is a must see and do when you have the time. Great place to hike and enjoy nature and the Mansion is beautiful. Many weddings are held there and the view is fantastic.
