Can't beat $5 Tuesdays

Big comfy recliner chairs, not a bad seat in the house. Decent pub style food though portions have been downsized (but not the prices) but guess that's happening everywhere. Severs always nice, welcoming, and competent.

Comfortable Theatre and Good Food
Jan 2020
The Movie Theatre is very comfortable and much more convenient than the Regal theatre in Oaks. They serve nice eats as well as drinks. Great to take a date. Movie choices and times are more limited than the Regal theatre but overall it's way more comfortable.

It's a movie theater that serves food.

The movie tavern is an ok place to see a movie if you don't mind people walking around constantly. The food is below average, IMO. The service when you arrive is good, but if you order another drink, don't expect it to actually come. It never does. The seats are comfy and recline, if that's a thing you like.

Besides the novelty of actual dinner and a movie, this place is meh.

Insane prices
Dec 2019 • Family
My family and I went to see an afternoon showing off the latest movie in the Star Wars franchise. We chose the Movie Tavern because you can reserve seats there, and so we knew we’d get seating with a good view of the screen. The movie itself was pretty good, and the movie experience was also pretty good - a clean theatre, spacious seats, good sound quality, and good visual quality. The downside? You’re gonna pay, and your gonna pay a lot!

The tickets were $14 each, which at least we knew going in. However, we made a big mistake and also ordered 3 small popcorns with butter, and 3 bottles of water. The cost? $40!!! Crazy!!! They even charged $1 each for a squirt of butter on the popcorn. Of course we also felt like we had to tip the server (and we did). So at the end of the day, we ended up spending over $100 for a family of four to go to a movie, get 3 small popcorns with butter, and 3 bottles of water.

I guess if you want to go to a movie in a decent theater with reserved seats, then go for it. But don’t make the mistake of ordering any food or drink unless you want to be massively ripped off. We won’t be back.

Go for Movies, not the Food
Dec 2019 • Family
We recently took our kids here to watch frozen 2. I'll start with the positives, the seating was comfortable, the recliners were a nice touch, the audio was great and the video was awesome.

Now to the drawbacks. For the cost you can see the same movie elsewhere and eat elsewhere. Yes, I can get a drink, but that's not reason enough to pay what we did. The service was painfully slow. We got there 30 minutes early so we could order and eat. We were waited on about 20 minutes after our arrival and our food came out another 30 minutes later. My kids wouldn't eat any of the pizza because it was so overcooked, my wife never got her wrap and my sandwich was just okay.

Again, the movie theater itself was really good, but beyond that not so much.

Gone way down hill

We have been going here for years and always enjoyed it, but like others l, under the new management this place is incompetent.

We arrived 30 minutes before the show and place our order quickly. My drink (Angry Orchard) doesn’t come. I had to ask for it again. It finally comes and I take a sip and it’s clearly beer. Server comes back and tells me it’s on tap with the beer - likes it’s my fault. I’ve had Angry Orchard on tap and know what it tastes like - this was beer. Finally, I get a new one. All servers are walking up and down the aisles asking everyone whose drinks they have - they’re clueless. The seats are numbered. They should know whose drinks they were. Also, our food took an hour to come - way into the movie. We were seeing Frozen 2 so it was packed, but still inexcusable. I couldn’t enjoy myself because I was so distracted with the wrong drink, servers pacing the aisles and waiting for the food. Food arrived cold - probably from sitting around. There is nothing healthy on the menu - even the salads are over 1,000 calories! Food is too expensive and mediocre. They need to revert back to their old ways or I don’t know if we’ll be back.

Way down hill

Food has become expensive for what it is.
Quality is not as good as it was either. The seats may be very comfortable but I feel its overpriced. My husband and I went out to see a movie, have a snack and with 2 drinks each it came to 200.00. Finding less expensive night out.

Treated unfairly

I visited Movie Tavern in Covington, LA. Per staff a restriction was put in place for hand bags to be a certain size in order to enter the theater. I was told my purse was too big and I had to put it in the car. I also noticed other customers with hand bags about the same size as my by bag enter the theater. For a moment there It looks like the staff were only stopping (brown-skinned) people. I visited this same theater 1 week ago and in 2018 every other Friday. Thanks for the experiences I received in 2018. No longer a customer.

What’s Happened?
Jul 2019 • Couples
My wife and I have been frequent visitors to the Movie Tavern since it opened. Recently, we’ve noticed that it doesn’t seem as clean as it used to be. The floors are very sticky, the restrooms aren’t as clean and the food isn’t as well prepared. This isn’t the case with one visit, but over the last few. I understand that it’s under new management company wide, but it’s certainly not making a good first impression with us anyway.
