We got a nice quiet night with the clear sky and new moon! Got amazing photos and it is a nice remote place to get away to. Stayed at Frosty Hollow B&B nearby.

Bring your own telescopes, or ask your hotel receptionist to recommend an astronomy tour guide. To see the milky way the way our ancestors saw it, watch shooting stars, and have a wonderful, educational experience, you can't beat this palce!

We stayed at Frosty Hollow B&B (fantastic! See my review) just down the road from Cherry Springs State Park. We took our chairs and bundled up, ready to see the stars. We went on a new moon and crossed our fingers for a clear night....More

We wish it wasn't freezing cold and weather not cooperating or we would have stayed to see the stars. Very organized area to accommodate cars.

The state park and surrounding area is a gem for a dark skies experience! Schedule your stay around a new moon so the sky is as dark as possible. If you live in an area with a lot of light pollution, you will especially enjoy...More

The best rustic camping ground I have ever stayed at. Very quiet (except for the campers that do not understand camping etiquette of not loudly closing their car doors EVERY SINGLE TIME they take something out of their car) through the night. Toilets (non-flush) buildings...More

My boyfriend and I visited over Labor Day weekend. We were concerned that the weather wouldn't cooperate, but it eventually did and it was worth the wait. Although we arrived near the end of the guided activities, we were able to look through telescopes at...More

Camping in Cherry Springs is the best place to be for watching the night sky. We happened to be there on a crystal clear moonless night in September and what a site. Most people are aware of others checking out the sky, so use minimal...More

Cherry Springs State Park used to have an active airstrip across the street. Its on the top of the mountain, allowing an almost horizon to horizon view of the night sky. For best viewing plan to be there on a New Moon or one that...More

I stayed at the park. I'd get a reservation, as we were lucky to get the last space. The spaces are huge and include a picnic table and fire pit. The restrooms are really big outhouses without running water but there is a spigot with...More

Yes you can. There are 2 fields. One requires a reservation, the other allows you to come and go at will.

Reserve America may have spots open for Cherry Springs, you probably want the airport campground, the astronomy field is for hard core observers.
