Because it was such a cold windy day, we choose to drive around the cemetery. The roads are old and grown over with grass. It's a little creepy, but in a good way.

David, the caretaker, will take you on a hour tour around the cemetery pointing out notable folks buried there, and there are several! Including business folks, suffragettes, actors and a bank robber. He makes the cemetery residents come to life (pun intended).

My wife and I went to the cemetery to find the location where Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. After finding location we noticed that there were pennies on the graves of the soldiers who had fallen. We looked it up and found that it's to show family members that someone had visited the grave that the money collected goes... More

Walking through, I could imagine the people raising this great Nation and being laid to rest. The epidemics and plagues that had wiped out because of no cures. The backbreaking work that formed this Great county of ours.

This is a very old cemetery. I have quite a few relatives here. They don't do a lot of upkeep but maybe it was just the day we were there. American flags laying on ground. Wasn't very happy about that. It's not a very nice neighborhood anymore. Still worth seeing even if you don't have relatives here.

This overlooked cemetery is worth a peek if you are nearby (perhaps to visit the National Civil War Museum). It is a classic Victorian-era burial ground which when constructed was in the country. The keeper's house is an excellent example of Victorian cottage architecture. Some of the tombstones are interesting but not nearly as elaborate as some of the Victorian... More

There was too much to see in one visit so we plan on coming back soon. It's very peaceful. Some of the stones are broken, have fallen over, or are just plain missing. But that adds to the charm. The only thing I wish was that either a directory of sections be available or they be marked so it'd be... More

The Harrisburg Cemetery is something I grew up hearing about. My grandfather in the 1940's was Burgess of a bordering town and would hear he and his friends talk of the history often. We decided to take our grandsons for a walk through history. It's amazing! Our grandsons found it very peaceful and thought (from the view of 5 and... More
