Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

My husband and I took a trip to our capital building for a rally on the front steps. What a beautiful day. We got there early and had about an hour to walk around and take pictures. It being a Sunday there were limited tours (one at 1:00 and one at 3:00) which we were unable to make. A kind... More

We took the tour today, which was ok. It's every half an hour during the week. Very large vs other capitals and really appreciated the art work here. Tour took about 45 minutes but you can do self tours also. Worth stopping if you like capitals

The tour guide knew a lot about the building and it's history but had a strange speech pattern or way of presenting the information. I wish we learned more about what happens in the capitol. But the paintings were intricate with much meaning and the gold leaf is impressive!

Everyone should visit their state capitols to meet with their legislators, but I think people should come to take in the Pennsylvania's capital for the art and architecture. It's cool to see the government at work as well and the offices generally enjoy visitors from their districts. Worth a stop just to see the rotunda!

There aren't words to describe the beauty of this building. You have to go yourself to see. Absolutely a must see in Harrisburg.
