Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On our first day in Kuqa we visited the most important touristic sites in the surroundings of Kuqa as the Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves, Kuqa Grand Canyon, Beacon tower and the Kuqa Grand Mosque. Because our travel scheme was changed, we had some extra hours on a second day and could visit some two extra sites in Kuqa. We first went to Subashi where we arrived at 12.30 and stayed until 13.10. Then we went to the Kuqa Palace, the residence of the kings of Qiuci until the early 20th century, where we arrived at 13.40 and stayed until 14.30. Although the complex is in bad shape and needs restoration, you have an impression of how rulers lived in this area. It is a rather large complex with different buildings, some gardens and you’ll see a part of the old city wall and some gates. The exposed materials are hardly worthwhile to see because they need maintenance or restauration. If there is some explanation (very rare), it is in Chinese.
Summarized, certainly not a must see, but good for a short visit if you have some extra time in Kuqa.

Not much worth seeing, slightly rebuilt and some social unity propaganda. But the surrounding Uyghur neighbourhood is really interesting!

There is a museum, small mosque and other rooms for you to explore and lots of history. It also backs onto the old city wall. Near a long pond is another building which has some beautiful porcelain and painted glass partitions.

Inside the grounds are restaurants, a hotel, the family mosque, several pavilions intended for mass parties, pleasant gardens and infrastructure to cope with hundreds of tourists at a time. Despite only being built 10 years ago, someone miscalculated its popularity and it seems almost abandoned apart from a couple of groundskeeping staff. There is an interesting museum containing replicas and cutouts of buddhist caves from the area, along with skeletons and other artifacts found in the region. Unfortunately these items are left covered in dust, dirt and mold and in some cases glued in place. Other crumbling exhibits exist of craftsman and the dynasty lineage, however all of these are in poor states of repair and very difficult to follow.

It was kind of nice touring the gardens of the palace and getting away from people..
