Lovely place to wander day or night, good choice of restaurants, enjoyed meals in Ristorante Il Castello and Ristorante L'Antica Fonte (best to prebook). Firework displays finished off the evening. Travelling on the Funicular Railway was easy and saved driving the long way round.

What a fabulous place. Stunning scenery and the most beautiful views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. The very small €4 euro fee to visit the museums is well worth the price. Highly recommend you make time in your trip to stop off if in the...More

My wife and I toured the medieval village in Certaldo. The views were breath-taking and the buildings were quite impressive. We couldn't help but think as to how life would have been like 100's of years ago. We spent about 1 and a half hours...More

Certaldo Alto is nice example of a medieval hill top town, pleasant intricate streets, period buildings and panoramic views. Sunset from any of these towns is always a joy. There are a good selection of destinations to imbibe and or eat. To avoid feeling disappointed,...More

The old section, Certaldo Alto is very pretty, with a couple of restaurants, and you get there by a funicular railway.

Very nice old village on top of the hill. You can come up by a cable car and go down back to the center by foot, both are nice.

Cute town with an old hill-top village accessed with a lift. A couple museums, nothing special, and lovely views.

Great little town on the train line between Siena and Florence. Much more accessible than San Gimignano.

On arrival Certaldo is low key commercial/industrial, but hold within is a real gem! If you are energetic and fit you can walk up the hill to the old part of Certaldo, we however took the vernacular rail option for 1.5 Euro each. The ride...More

Certaldo Alto is a medieval village, with only one street that turns and with beautiful views. If you go on Sunday you will find lots of weddings, it must be a typical place to get married in this area. beautiful sunset.

Probably late answering this- I apologize. The best way to get to Certaldo alto is to take the funicular. You can walk back down as it isn't bad at all. Hope you have a great time!
