And we were lucky enough to get married in the courtyard! It is most definitely a 'hidden gem' (as another reviewer said), in an oasis of calm. The complete opposite of San Gimignano and let's hope it stays that way! Catch the Funicular from the...More

Certaldo is not a very touristic town, yet its castle is magnificent. Several nice restaurants inside the castle walls and some true historic places.

Certaldo itself feels like it is off the main tourist radar, certainly so when we visited in early June. Having caught the funicular up to the old town we thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the old buildings, including parts used as courts and cells. An inscription...More

We visited with our children having got married here many years ago. It is a beautiful setting for a wedding and our children enjoyed visiting too. It is less busy at spring time than in the summer.

Visited here June 2017 with good friends. We enjoyed walking around the palazzo and Certaldo Alto through all of the little shops and had a great pizza at one shop before leaving.

I stayed in Certaldo for 4 nights and stayed in a bnb right opposite to the palazzo. It's a small medieval palace with some interesting art and artifacts. I enjoyed seeing the structure of the building and getting a better idea of life in the...More

When in Tuscany and near Certaldo, spend time in this fascinating castle which was the home of political power in ages past. It housed the local government, court, jail and judicial administration. Restoration work has made this building a proud attraction. A long climb for...More
