Severn Expeditions Day Boat Hire offer self drive motor boats for day hire on the river Severn between Tewkesbury and Worcester. You don't need any previous experience or a boat licence to book with us, we will teach you everything you need to know in a handover session before you depart. All you need to do is book in advance. Then pack a picnic and have lots of fun with family, friends or colleagues cruising up and down the river. We are lucky to live in such a beautiful area, so sit back, relax, enjoy the countryside and all the wildlife it has to offer.

We are having a week in Worcestershire and found this company on line. I read about the boats and tariffs and we booked a half day trip on Merry, a nice boat with a steering wheel instead of a tiller, which was ideal because I have mobility problems,so can't reach behind me very well. We found the over the phone booking really seamless, and when we arrived we were treated very well. After a run through of the boat and a great chat of which way would be best to travel we got on boat and had a lovely relaxed 4 hours on the river Severn. We saw herons, cormorants and Kingfishers and only another four boats so it felt like we had the river to ourselves. We will be coming back later in year and will definitely have another boat hire. The owners deserve to do well because they really treat people well. Thank for a great day.

This is the second time we have used Severn Expeditions Boat Hire, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The service is consistently friendly, helpful, and informative, making the experience even more enjoyable. Thankfully, we had the weather on our side, which always helps, but even without perfect weather, the overall experience would still be outstanding.
The boats are well-maintained and clean, which speaks volumes about the company’s attention to detail and commitment to quality. With clear and thorough instructions provided at the start, the boats are very easy to use, even for those who might be new to boating.
We highly recommend Severn Expeditions Boat Hire for a fantastic and hassle-free boating experience. We’ll definitely be returning for our next adventure!

A fun day out! Really enjoyable trip with our grandchilden - lots of swans, a couple of herons and a cormorant for company. We went through Upper Lode Lock - which has a really helpful lock keeper and stopped at the nearby pub for a break before we set off for our return journey.
Most importantly, the staff made sure we were all properly equipped with life jackets and our boat was very safe, with a little bit of power when needed! The girls were very fast learners and did most of the steering.
We have hired boats all over the UK, sometimes day boats, sometimes for longer periods, and must say that this company was among the best.

Booked online in less than 5 minutes for a full days boat hire. Turned up at the marina the following day to a very friendly welcome. A thorough and very professional boat operation tutorial and safety brief had us on the river in next to no time. An immaculate and spacious boat for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. 8 hours on the water fun heading upstream to Diglis bridge and downstream to Tewksbury. I’d highly recommend 5*****

We had two great days fishing the Severn at Upton with Severn Expeditions. As we went midweek we couldn't book a guide but Tim gives good advice on where to go and boat operation, safety procedures etc. in fact the most productive spot was to moor up next to the boathouse! We also fished the main river, and the boat was in good condition with easy electric starting.

Great half-day fishing trip on their small boat 'Merry'
First time users and instructor gave clear instructions on operating the boat and rules of the river.
Useful advice on the best places to fish resulted in a few bites.

What a great way to spend a day. Relax and unwind. You can stop three pub near Tewkesbury but make sure you check they are open and you can mor up as it’s a long way to go if they are close. As we found out.
Would recommend taking a drink and a bite to eat just in case.
We did think that we could mor up at a quiet place but that’s not the case.

Can't recommend highly enough. Severn Expeditions were superb. We hired a boat - Merry - online for half a day at a great price. We were sent lots of very helpful information which was all spot on. On the day everything was made so easy for us. We were shown how to drive the boat, given safety info and tips about where we could go etc. We then had a magical afternoon on a gorgeous part of the river, from upton towards Worcester and then back, and towards Tewkesbury. Bliss! Saw a few herons and a kingfisher. The river was very quiet and peaceful. We arrived back and were met and guided in and helped to Moor. A brilliant, friendly and superbly run business.

Extremely friendly and supportive, they even gave us sun cream which we had forgotten. We arrived early and they were able to get the boat ready a bit earlier. The boat was easy to navigate and easily accommodated our party of 6 plus two dogs. 4 hours was plenty of time and in fact we finished early as it was so hot that day.

I hired Pippin, steers from the front so easy to steer and keep position on the river. She was beautifully clean. We all got given our safety jackets and a detailed enough tutorial. Had a great time travelling up and down the river. We moored at Upton to grab a quick sandwich and a drink. It's a fun afternoon out, we always enjoy that everyone waves at you, feels almost mandatory to wave at people doing water based activities. We'll book again.

I would like to enquire about cost of half or full day boat hire for just myself and my husband - probably Fri 19 July. We are staying at the Malvern Spa for a couple of days - so a boat trip would be fab whilst there !

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. We have availability on 19th July. We are however just in the middle of getting a new small boat which will be ready in time for your trip. The details are not yet on the website though. The cost of the new one will be £70 for half a day or £100 for a full day.
