Having lived in Stockport all my life, felt it was time now retired to visited this historic house and was more than delighted with whole experience from the cellars up several floors with room setting from different eras makes for surprising scenes. There’s also a second tour of Stockport history with 1950s room setting and all about Strawberry recording studio and the groups who started there such as 10CC.

We had been looking forward to visiting Staircase House for a while, and my goodness it exceeded expectations a lot! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, couldn’t thank them enough! The house is fantastic and interactive. Beautifully restored brick work, artefacts and each room is so well displayed and put together. Lots of information and very educational too. I won’t give too much away as it is a must see!

Excellently restored, designed and presented historic house, which surpassed our expectations. It was fascinating to explore the many rooms and see the changing structure of the house through the ages.

Visited with my parents as the first site of our multi-ticket visits that gets you into the Hat Museum, Bramhall Hall, Staircase House and the Air Raid Shelter for £13 (or £10 concession). Having grown up close-to Stockport, we thought we’d make it something of a NY resolution to see what Stockport had to offer.

Staircase House was a really pleasant surprise. It’s a very well thought-out guide through a townhouse first built in medieval times and now serving as an insight into what local everyday life would have been like through the centuries. A fantastic audio-guide is excellently curated and was informative throughout.

On a rainy Sunday in Stockport, this was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Well-worth the small entrance fee.

When out and about in Stockport it is worth spending half an hour exploring this building and its exhibits for a bit of history and culture. You can spend as much time as you want and the House is very well situated in the town.
