Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fabulous pub with up to 15 cask ales. The bar is composed of several rooms. The toilets were very clean with fresh flowers in the ladies. On Fridays there are pizzas cooked in the rear and they looked very popular. The pub is family friendly and provides books and games.

Best pub in Manchester. Great beer, reasonably priced. Pizza is the best in the world (may sound like an exaggeration but it's not far off tbf). Staff friendly, clean, good for kids. Beer is well priced. Great character and atmosphere. Hard to beat.

Pretty average really. Minimal decor pub that serves a range of beers. There are loads of pubs in Stockport that serve a good selection of beers and offer more eg food, better wines etc.

Excellent pub. I visited here randomly one weekend with family and had a blast. The place had a nice atmosphere and a fantastic range of drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's now one of my go-to places for a quick drink. Good stuff.

Right to start with I run a taproom for a brewery, I go and scope pubs bars restaurants on a weekly basis and this is 1 of best I've seen for a good while!!! Amazing and I mean amazing beer lineup cask keg, great knowledge service and potentially more to look at my next visit with food etc. Busy bubbly and nice customers in every room and outside!!! I will be back soon

What can I say so many real ales to chose from. Great prices & not a tap free. Will be back when back in the area. Staff were very friendly & always at hand to serve you. We had the most amazing Cherry Sour last night.

Followed recommendations on a local ale trail and CAMRA good beer guide and we were not disappointed.
Lots of cask and keg beers available plus a selection of festive drinks mulled wine etc as tis the season.
Several rooms/areas to sit comfortably, even a lower room for pool and darts and a large covered outdoor area for smokers.
Liked it so much we visited both days of our 2 day visit to the town. Very reasonable prices too, complete with friendly staff and patrons.

Me and my husband came here as he loves the wide selection of real ales they always have to offer.
We went together on a Friday evening and it was very busy which was nice to see but we still managed to get a seat upstairs. It’s a proper old school pub before all the pub restaurant places came along and took over. There’s not many of these little charming type of pubs left anymore.
When we went they had a pizza company outside doing made to order pizzas and they were delicious.
Would definitely recommend.

Walking in the pub has an unusual layout and decoration, this however adds to the draw of the place. The busiest pub of our day by a country mile. The pub had plenty of space and finding a table even on a busy night wasn't an issue. The pub also puts on outings for punters too which is rarely seen these days.

Met up with a mate on the way to a Bob Dylan concert in Manchester. Great pub with an extensive range of beers. The young lady behind the bar was really friendly and had good knowledge of the ale on offer. Definitely the place to go if you enjoy your ale. Their award is truly deserved. I will go again next time I visit my old town.
