Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place has a great outside seating area and has recently started doing Pizzas too! Very good selection of beers to compliment.

This is the best pub in Stockport and the best pub I know of, it has charm, it is friendly, it is comfortable it has great pizza and above all it has the best kept and served beer that I know of. You can guarantee the quality and standard of it's beers is the best around.
If I had to recommend a place for a great atmosphere and outstanding beers this would be number 1 every time. Keep doing what you do because its amazing.

Fabulous pub with up to 15 cask ales. The bar is composed of several rooms. The toilets were very clean with fresh flowers in the ladies. On Fridays there are pizzas cooked in the rear and they looked very popular. The pub is family friendly and provides books and games.

What can I say so many real ales to chose from. Great prices & not a tap free. Will be back when back in the area. Staff were very friendly & always at hand to serve you. We had the most amazing Cherry Sour last night.

Excellent pub. I visited here randomly one weekend with family and had a blast. The place had a nice atmosphere and a fantastic range of drinks. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's now one of my go-to places for a quick drink. Good stuff.

Best pub in Manchester. Great beer, reasonably priced. Pizza is the best in the world (may sound like an exaggeration but it's not far off tbf). Staff friendly, clean, good for kids. Beer is well priced. Great character and atmosphere. Hard to beat.

After lockdown I have made several visits to the Magnet, and its as good as before. Still with a great selection of around 20 beers of various different styles. The pub is very good with Covid precautions, with you been asked to Sanitise on entry, and contact details taken. The pub has extended the Beer Garden, so if you want to drink outdoors it has plenty of space.

Visited Saturday late afternoon for the first time since lockdown.
We waited outside as indicated for probably about a minute (no queue), before our details were taken and we were welcomed inside. A quick squirt of sanitizer and a photo of the beer board and we were offered a choice of tables. Lucky to get a good spot near the bar, where we used to like to sit in the good old days pre lockdown.
No chance of sitting outside due to the awful weather, but they do have loads of seating out the back.
Perspex screens at the bar and all staff wearing masks. Drinks swiftly ordered and delivered at the table, payment in cash or card.
We had been unsure about whether there would be any atmosphere with the social distancing, but there was still a buzz and we could still chat with the bar staff and people nearby and although it was a quiet time anyway, it was absolutely fine once seated with a drink.
As usual, great choice of really good beers. So many beers, so little time, we need to return soon to sample some more. My favourite was the Siren Much Ado about Muffin fruit beer. Hubby loved the Vocation & Marble Hop, Skip & Juice pale ale.
10/10 to the lovely staff for making things as close to normal as possible, we have missed our visits and we will be back soon.

This pub serves a wide range of beer from around the world but predominantly UK brewers. Something to suit every palate and provides a great way for non beer drinkers to develop appreciation.
Old fashioned, an all the better for that, as beer is the focus and may get crisps but don't come expecting food except on Friday evening when a pizza van supplies drinkers in the establishment.
Extensive outdoor seating with reasonable view of the passing trains. Popular but service very good as long as beers behave!
