Thid place if great if you want to paddle through muddy uneven unmade tracks and spot dog droppings in plastic bags hanging on bushes. Or you could dodge the youths on motorcycles charging around.
There is very little accesability gor disabled and most places if you haven't got walking boots on or wellingtons you are going to get dirty.
The area up near Tescos is strewn with broken bottles and empty nitreous oxide capsules.
The woods thinly mask some of the rubbish that has been buried there over the years.
This is pure lip service to a country park to enable the tip to be operated.
If you want to see what a decent reclaimed country park should be like, have a look at Clockface Country Park or Bold Forest Park, both have access all round for wheelchairs anf don't waste your time here.

a beautiful place to visit have a walk in nature and blow the cobwebs off, lovely views lots of nature peaceful lakes, well maintained and cared for, lots of facilities for dog walkers and everyone very well behaved with dogs put on leads a d cleaned up after, good access and benches dotted about. keeps dogs and children entertained for hours. perfect for a nature walk and picnic - highly recommend

Incredibly lucky to have this park on my doorstep so visit almost daily walking the dog. You can walk for hours seeing barely anyone. It's Merseyside's second biggest park and the volunteers have done a fantastic job developing it to make such a big space clean and welcoming for visitors. There are benches, a stone circle, ponds for fishing (run by local anglers), artefacts from the Lyme & Wood pits, a cafe on Sunday, and picnic tables. The views from the view points are fantastic, over to North Wales and the Peak District. It's a great space for nature and see pheasants, barn owls, foxes and rabbits regularly. The only downside is that it's quite rugged so has limited access for those with mobility issues, and can get muddy during winter, so bring wellies!

Visit here daily with my Springer Spaniel, who absolutely loves it over here. People of all ages enjoy it over here from walking, running, fishing, plenty for children to do too. There is information about different birds around the place, along with fairy doors, pictures of fairies and many more pictures to find.
Well worth a walk with your family around the park.

This is a beautiful park with many lovely paths heading into woodland area, ponds, viewing point and large open fields. It took me 2 hours to walk all the way round seeing lots of wildlife on my walk. Butterflies, birds and ducks lucky to have this on our doorstep

This park is literally on my door step its amazing and great for walks with the dog and friends. I have been going here for a number of years and would defo recommend a visit. Just make sure you take your rubbish home with you.

Often walk here with friends and family. It's ideal as the distance you want to walk can vary from a 20 minute circuit up to 2 hours.
It's disappointing that some locals find it appropriate to not pick up after their dogs or drop litter, but the volunteers looking after the park do a brilliant job of keeping it looking lovely for us all to use.
Definitely recommend. However my only suggestion for improvement would be more litter bins and dog waste bins.

Many beautiful trees, from birch avenues to ancient trees, with new plantations also. Viewpoint gives a 360degree panorama of all the surrounding areas :the Welsh mountains, Great Orme, Blackpool tower, Daresbury, Manchester, Winter hill, Billinge hill, Runcorn Bridges. I have walked many times there since I discovered it. I have seen many bees, butterflies rabbits, types of birds including raptors and various wild flowers and ferns.
There are 3 scenic fishing ponds. Lovely clean area, but very muddy if it rains,so take boots or wellies.

The landfill is now closed and the last areas are being topsoiled and landscaped there will be thousands of trees planted in the next year .
The pathways are being looked at to address the boggy areas and improve them. The wildlife is becoming established now with a fantastic range of wild birds butterflies insects and dragonflies . Some species reported to be in decline have moved into the park and are thriving .The views from the higher points of the park are amazing with a 360 veiw of the local area as well and also the pennines , cheshire , wales.

A great place to explore, see the views and exercise in nature.
If you explore hard enough you will find some hidden genes in the park and it’s great for photo shoots.
It isn’t a park best place for bikes and more suitable for walking.

Where did the reviewer ever get the idea that there was ever a quarry on this site?
The hill of landfill rubbish is 10 yes 10 times bigger than the original coal tip and should be called land pile
