Having invested in membership of English Heritage this was one of the first paces I visited using it. And what timing: a week or two later the house was due to close for some considerable time for major Lottery-funded renovations inside and in the surrounding...More

A good solid house with an interesting history. Easy enough to park near by at a cost of about £3.00. Entry is by guided tour only and on the tour we went on was so well subscribed that it was necessary to break the tours...More

The surroundings of the house are not that great. The lawns are not well kept and serve as sporting and dog play grounds. Inside the house it gets more interesting. But the best part of the visit is the story as told by the guide...More

A pleasant find this place with big spacious garden ground and an interesting house with an equally interesting history! Home to King George II's mistress, you need to pay a fee to get into a guided tour inside the house and dogs are not allowed...More

English Heritage continue to insist to apply their Dark Ages rules of no photography allowed, insisting that their paid-for guidebooks are all you need. Evidently not if you wish to have your own photos. Goodbye, English Heritage, I shall not be renewing my subscription.

The house itself is worth a look, a wonderful building in white marble, but inside, ah. There are painting to drool over, by the famous and the not-so-famous, it's an art lovers paradise.

I live right next to Marble Hill House and can say that I'm truly privileged. In the summer we walk the park regularly, taking the kite or running. There are little snippets of the history associated with the house with Henrietta's garden, her little hideaway...More
