Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just returned from a week’s birdwatching in Norfolk with Cornwall Birdwatching Tours and had an amazing time. Having thoroughly researched the area and sites beforehand, Paul managed to show me all of the birds which I had longed to see including Hawfinches, Waxwings, Shorelarks and 1,000’s of Pink-footed Geese. Informative and immediately helpful with bird ID, he made sure that each group member saw the target birds. The chosen accommodation and meals were excellent too. Whether an expert birder or keen novice like myself, I’d certainly recommend going on a tour with Paul, and I know that I’ll be going again.

Paul was friendly and knowledge. No question was off limits and he treated us to a well thought through itinerary to cover a range of habitats. I would highly recommend this tour.

After going on three separate day tours with Cornwall Birdwatching Tours I decided to go on the big week tour to the Isles of Scilly during autumn 2022.

Due to the geography of the islands there is a lot of walking but our guide took into account the groups capabilities and ages. A flexible itinerary based on the weather and which islands the birds were reported on. Hotel was excellent, with good breakfasts and evening meals.

Our experienced guide, who’s speciality is Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly took us to all the right places. We would not have seen a quarter of what we have seen if I had gone on my own. From common to rare, sea and land birds it was a week of top birding. I was amazed at the level of interest in bird migration on the islands through September and October. There were hundreds of birders on the islands reporting their daily sightings like a bird bio-blitz. Weather was almost like summer with a few odd showers. 109 species, 7 lifers. Taking my year-list to 199 and improving my life list too!

Species included Wryneck, Swainson's thrush, Greenish Warbler, Cory's and Great Shearwaters, Yellow Browed Warbler, Whinchat, Firecrest, Rosefinch, Raddes Warbler, Jack Snipe, Long Tailed Duck and Black Redstart to name a few of the 109 species.

The Isles of Scilly are magical islands, there is so much to explore. However having a birdwatching guide with such enthusiasm, knowledge and contacts made it a week to remember.

Would I go on this tour again ? - Yes

Recently come back from the Isles of Scilly bird tour. Brilliant experience for anyone interested in birds. Paul’s knowledge of the Islands and the birds which inhabit the Islands was great. Accommodation and travel were organised well. Highly recommend for anyone looking to go to Scilly for the first time or just for a weeks break away.

We are from the United States. We started by hiring Paul for a private tour of Yarner Woods in Dartmoor National Park and followed that the next week with the West Cornwall Spring tour. We did the private tour on the second day of our visit to England, which was a very good introduction to birding in England. Paul’s teaching skills, knowledge of the birds and bird song and familiarity with the locations helped us quickly learn the local birds and exposed us to some hard-to-find species. The West Cornwall tour took us to birding areas that we would not have know about otherwise. We highly recommend Paul and would do another tour with him in the future.

We did a private birdwatching tour for a day with Paul and it was absolutely fantastic. Paul is a true Bird Master! He has superb knowledge of birds and his ability to spot them by sight or call is amazing. We saw a wide variety of bird species including the iconic Cornish Chough, Iceland Gull, Short-eared Owl, Wheatears and many others. Paul was fun to bird with and generous in sharing his knowledge. Whether you are a novice or advanced birder - Paul is your guy. Highly, highly recommended.

These must be good because despite 40 MPH winds, driving rain and freezing temperatures we saw a huge variety of birds in multiple different locations and had a great time. Paul really knows his stuff and is very happy to teach you as much as he can. Highly recommend

Paul was great. Despite some pretty grim weather, we had a lovely day and saw many different birds including our favourites! Paul is the perfect guide.
