Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent 4 days touring with Karen and saw many Poldark locations. Karen took such good care of us! She tailored each day of the tour to what we wanted to see. She also took tons of photos of us. She’s a great photographer! We completely enjoyed our time with Karen and getting to see all the Poldark places we saw on TV.

It was a nice place to visit, quite pretty even though it was a drab day.
There were small ships docked up and a few times a day they set off the cannon.
The poldark theme is loose, theres just banners with his face on!

My recent visit to Cornwall would have been a logistical nightmare without the stellar support of Poldark's Cornwall. I'm one of the hosts for a podcast about the BBC series and the brilliant saga written by Winston Graham and have found a kindred spirit with Karen. She is THE expert BBC Cornwall contacts whenever they have a question or want to run a segment about the show and has a wealth of knowledge about the beautiful county of Cornwall beyond the show/books. She made arrangements for me to go on a two and a half day whistle stop tour of all of the shooting locations, including exclusive access to the farm used for the family home, Nampara, in series 1 and 2. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had and exceeded any expectation I may have had before arriving. I didn't want to leave! I look forward to heading back for another, longer trip next year!

Karen Colam is the ultimate guide to Poldark’s Cornwall (and Cornwall more generally). As a Perranporth resident, her knowledge of the sites mentioned in Winston Graham’s Poldark novels must be unparalleled. Familiar with the locations of the 70’s and the current series she is also able to connect the novels and the TV series. She can provide the real historical context of the fictional series. Most importantly Karen is a personable, caring and flexible guide who goes the extra mile to meet her guests needs. Don’t drive around Cornwall yourself let Karen, an expert navigator of small country lanes, allow you to fully enjoy the scenery and the experience and come away wanting to repeat the trip,

My adult daughter and I had a week’s tour with Karen Colam and loved every minute of it. It was an adventure and so easy to have her pick us up in the morning and take us where we needed to go. I felt the stress of my life leak out of me as we walked the cliffs or indulged in cream tea after a museum visit. We saw all the Pokdark sites and more such as the breathtaking “Minack” theater on the rocks built by Rowena Cade in Penzance or the historic Victorian home “Lanhydrock” where a real family lived the Downton Abbey experience. My daughter called it “touring with a heart” and said if anything went wrong, we could just call Karen. She is centrally located in Cornwall in the seaside town of Parenporth and found us nearby accommodations that were beautiful, comfortable and reasonable. Take me back to Cornwall!

My sisters and I visited Cornwall a couple of weeks ago and had a spectacular trip. Our tour guide, Karen, made the trip fun and exciting. We visited many of the breathtaking sites where Poldark is filmed. If you plan to take this tour, bring your camera and your sense of adventure!

This is a must for any Poldark fan! Karen was brilliant throughout, driving over 200 miles to and from some of the most scenic filming locations. Her vast knowledge on route also extended to Cornwall`s mining history, as well as the vital part she played during the war. (So you men don`t have to feel left out!) We were taken to places we could never have travelled to by ourselves, such as the 12th century working farm that features as `Nampara`, and I can honestly say that we saw the very best of Cornwall`s coastline. The whole tour felt very personalized as if it had been tailor-made just for us. Karen made a detour through Mousehole because I mentioned that I`d always wanted to go there, as well as making an unscheduled trip to meet my daughter and baby granddaughter at Land`s End. (By chance they were holidaying in Cornwall at the same time.) You won`t be disappointed with this tour. We`re only sorry it had to end!

My friend and I were recently taken on a 4 day Poldark tour by Karen Colam and thoroughly enjoyed it! As we were travelling by car and not a coach we were able to access beautiful remote areas and beaches, along narrow country lanes, which could not have been managed by coach. We were able to visit all the major Poldark sites and hear all about the filming of the series. Karen adapted the tour to include brief visits to St Ives and Padstow at our request.
Cornwall is stunning and Karen's vast knowledge of local affairs and history, flora and fauna etc made the trip fascinating. She obviously loves her job and enjoys showing her guests the area (always knowing the best photographic angles!) We would love to return to Cornwall in the future, with Karen as our guide.

My sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful week in Cornwall with Karen as our guide. An expert on Poldark and Cornwall, she graciously offered us a wide range of experiences and historical insights as well as the delight of stepping into the scenes we love from the show. Down a mine, along iconic cliffs, on the beach where Ross emerged, over sand dunes and through Mirran grass, in the chapel where Dwight and Caroline were married, on board the ship that carried our boys to Roscoff, and at Nampara--and much, much more! Karen, thank you so much!

Karen is a wonderful guide; she went above and beyond to show our group how beautiful Cornwall is. She knows all the Poldark filming sites, as well as the rich history of the Cornish Coast. We were amazed and delighted! Can't wait to return!
