As my husband and I look forward to taking our next trip in 2024 with Adventureline, I reminisce, feeling gratitude and appreciation for the trips already taken with lead tour owner/operator Martin Hunt and his company. In 5 separate trips over the past few years, we explored the Italian regions of the Amalfi Coast, Umbria, and Lazio, as well as Cornwall, England and Iceland. Martin Hunt has been such a catalyst and friend for travelers like us, who with Adventureline have visited places on this earth we may otherwise never have seen. Descriptors for these small group Adventureline trips that come to mind are classy and authentic food and accommodations, interesting and educational experiences, stunning scenery, unexpected surprises, nature-, history- and culture-focused hikes, cost-effective and well-paced travel, friendship-forming opportunities, truly memorable adventures...all in all, these have been enriching travels! I have included a few photos from previous trips.

Our recent trip to Tuscany was the sixth trip we have enjoyed with Adventureline and once again it was a wonderfully memorable trip led by Martin Hunt. He took us along ancient Etruscan tracks carved down into the volcanic tuff, up into hilltop towns where we explored the twisted streets and learnt more of their history. Our stays in two of these hilltop towns were magic - our hosts so welcoming, our meals mouthwatering and prepared from local produce and, with views from our window to distant hills or overlooking a steep cobbled street, we couldn't help but fall in love with Tuscany. As always Martin was an expert and companiable guide whose knowledge and organisation gave us the perfect mix of energetic walks and welcome relaxation.

Due to a strong recommendation from a friend who'd traveled twice with Adventureline, I recently had the great pleasure of a tour in Lazio/Tuscany. Ours was a very amiable small group from four countries. Martin, the tour leader and owner, was joined by his Italian guide Luca, and we had the benefit of their shared knowledge of the area's geography, culture, and history with a particular focus on the Etruscan era. I soon appreciated why several others on the tour had been on previous treks with Adventureline in various parts of the world.

Thank you so much for your kind review Sarah - it was a pleasure to meet you and to introduce you to this fascinating region of Italy. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the mix of activities and all the places seen and of course - and the food! Kind regards, Martin.

When visiting Iceland with Adventureline Walking Holidays you don’t have to think; just look, soak in every new view and experience that surrounds you on the journey. Adventureline’s planning and expert guiding moved us through thousands of steps and 1,200 miles of Iceland’s unforgettable landscape while experiencing rural life along the route. Adventureline unwrapped Mother Nature’s gentleness and powerful forces allowing me to feel Mother Nature’s unbridled freedom. To return to continue the journey will be a pleasure.

You are very generous Mary - thank you! I'm happy of course that you enjoyed Iceland so much with Ross and Luca. But right now, Grindavik (near Keflavik Airport) has been evacuated because of an imminent volcanic eruption. So you got there just in time! Best wishes, Martin.

Italy - the Amalfi Coast.
This is the third time I have travelled with Martin and, as usual, he produced a first-class experience. We did and saw things that we would never have done if we had tried to organize this trip on our own. It says a lot for Martin that many of the travelers in our group were repeat customers.

Martin did a wonderful job organizing and leading our walking tour of the Amalfi coast. All transportation and lodging, plus all of our delicious meals, were pre-arranged and paid for (kind of like how it is for our kids when WE host THEM on a trip). Many of the hikes were physically challenging, as is to be expected given the rocky terrain of this area. But each one led to spectacular views. The trip also included some casual walks and people who needed a break from hiking had the option to relax. Plus, each day's exertions were rewarded with a wonderful dinner or tasting experience. Martin's cheerful disposition helped set a positive, accepting tone within the entire group. He was attentive to each member's needs and made sure special dietary requests were always accommodated. A memorable, stress-free blend of outdoor hiking and gourmet dining.

Many thanks for your positive review Udi - it only took me 8 months even realise you had done it! Anyway, I'm happy to know that you both enjoyed the Amalfi Coast with myself and Luca. It all seems like a dream now, eh? Martin.

Two years ago, the PBS series “Poldark” seduced us to visit Cornwall, where Adventureline guide Martin patiently awaited the lifting of Covid restrictions so that we could consummate our love affair with this enchanting corner of the UK. And he turned out to be everything one would want in a guide – and more! An intrepid explorer, a wise and witty Merlyn, a fount of knowledge about Cornwall’s seascape, geology, and history, a gracious host, and a delightful traveling companion. Each day’s walk revealed different vistas of Cornwall’s aquamarine coast and quaint Cornish villages far from the madding crowds. Because he arranged our accommodations, prepared picnic lunches and afternoon teas, and expertly navigated the narrow country roads, we were free to let our imaginations soar as we followed him along rocky cliffs, into clandestine coves, around medieval churches, ancient tin mines, and Arthurian ruins. The walks each day were active but well-paced, tailored to the needs of our small group of retirees. We cannot recommend this tour – or its leader – highly enough. It was the highlight of our UK trip and the most memorable tour we have ever taken.

Pathfinder - I'm not sure who you are, but having only just seen this review, and it now being 1.5 years ago, you could be anyone! But anyway, I thank you kindly for your very generous review. I think you have put into words just what I always strive to provide my guests and for you it certainly seems to have worked! Thanks so much, both for coming - and for your smashing review, Martin.

Martin was amazing! Martin is the ultimate pro in terms of tour guides. His in-depth knowledge of Cornwall is impressive. He has lived there almost all his life and has a wealth of knowledge to share with his guests. We love his concept of staying in one location (St. Agnes) for the entire week. He has arrangements with a couple of B&B’s and a hotel in the area where his clients stay. We cannot say enough good things about The Kimberley where we stayed with hosts Neil and Sue York.

Martin picked us up each morning and drove us to different places each day. He planned the day based on requests and abilities of his clients, as well as on the weather. Some days we did long walks in one locale, other days we visited several places and did shorter walks at each place. He seemed to know which way the clouds were moving and where we had the best chance of avoiding rain!

Each day with Martin is different! He is a delightful host – always positive, agreeable, enthusiastic, and upbeat! You can tell he really enjoys what he is doing. He told us about the origins of Cornwall, how it developed over millions of years, and showed us the different types of geological rocks – granite, serpentine, slate etc. in the different regions we visited. He knows each bird by its call and seems to be familiar with every footpath and backroad in the county!

We felt, after five days with Martin, that we had truly seen a thorough representation of Cornwall, from the southernmost point at The Lizard, to the west near Lands’ End, and the north coast from St. Agnes to Tintagel, to Boscastle. He tries to stay away from touristy areas and knows how to find the out of the way places that are not heavily traveled. Some of the walks were more difficult than others, but he keeps a relaxed pace, with lots of stops, time for questions and explanations of what we are seeing. He really paces the walks to accommodate his guests.

Our group had only four people, which was just perfect. We appreciate the excellent lunches Martin provided, and most days we ended with tea and biscuits in some beautiful spot! The highlight of one day was tea on a cliff top overlooking a small cove where we saw rare white baby seals!

Martin provided a truly memorable experience for us – an adventure we will always treasure! Thank you, Martin for a fantastic awesome week in Cornwall!

Thank you Janice and Bill for your detailed and most generously worded review. I have only just logged into TripAdvisor for the first time in ages and just found this - many thanks for taking the trouble. Seeing someone else put into such atmospheric and enticing words what I have always strived to provide makes me very happy, as it appears to have worked for you!. Thanks too for your message the other day. Many greetings from Wellington, where I have just today arrived for a bit of NZ culture! Martin.

Adventureline's walking holiday on the incomparable Isles of Scilly was an escape into another world. The walks were undemanding, the ever changing land- and sea-scape enchanting, the weather benign and the wildlife abundant. Tresco gardens were in their full exotic glory. There was a warm welcome from the Mincarlo guest house, and cheerful transport between islands by the St Mary's boatmen.Martin Hunt's leadership was as informative and considerate of his clientele as ever.

I just returned mid April from a hiking tour of the Sorrentine Peninsula. It was fabulous! Breathtakingly beautiful! Though the terrain was challenging at times, it was very manageable because of the pace.Martin's flexibility allowed the schedule to be adapted to the weather and to the group's needs. Accommodation and meals were wonderful. His rapport with local hotel and restaurant owners contributed to a very personal experience of this part of Italy.Thank you so very much, Martin!
