Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This lookout has a great view of the Illawarra region. The drive up to the viewing platform is beautiful and you see lots of farm animals and the beautiful south coast countryside. You can have lunch on the platform and admire the view.
Recommend going on a clear day as there is more visibility!

Pleasant views all the way up to the lookouts. Farms and a good climb. There are 3 lookouts... West, South and North. It's also a magic drive back as the ocean views across Kiama and up to Lake Illawarra and Port Kembla. It's only a few km's from Kiama..worth the visit.

Breathtaking, worth the drive.
Highly recommend making the effort to visit this location, transport required.
They say you can see Cronulla (Sydney), it was a clear day and you we see Centrepoint Tower.
There are 3 lookouts within a stones throw of each other, South, North and West.

There is 3 views to see here. The western is a waste of time as the view you can only see the tops of the mountains as it is over grown. Needs a major trim and the views will be amazing. The other 2 are great

This viewpoint exceeded our expectations as there are actually three viewpoints accessible from the car park, a short walk apart facing in different directions. We would recommend the north view if you are short of time. This is a very scenic part of NSW and the drive from Kiama or surrounding towns is worth the effort.

I spent sunset at this lookout, taking in the magical vistas, rolling green hills and cultivated farmland running all the way to the sea. For a very highly recommended lookout, it was odd that I was the only person up there and what a wonderful way to take in the sunset feeling like I was the only person in the world!

Saddle back is a few km inland from Kiama and is approached by car via the road to Jamberoo. It is not well signposted in Kiama itself so it is a good idea to get a map before you go for it. Also check to see if the cloud is clear on the range as it often comes down and partially obscures the view. There is parking and viewing areas, also a suitable place for a picnic.

After many day trips to Kiama we finally made it to this lookout. So glad we did. It is a beautiful, relaxing and scenic view, quiet and easy to access with a short but nice rustic drive to get there. A lovely view of the rolling farmland around Kiama.

Saddleback Mountain Lookout is up the top of Saddleback Mountain Rd Kiama and has sweeping 300 degree views from Gerringong in the south to Wollongong in the north. While some people ride or walk up to the lookout, most people drive up, as there is no public transport. There are no facilities up there and if it is foggy you will have very limited views, so plan your trip for a clear day. I suggest you include it in a day trip from Kiama to Jamberoo or Robertson.

Is the gate at the bottom of the hill locked overnight? I would to take some photos at dawn and don't mind walking up the hill, but would prefer not to!

I'm not sure if it gets locked at some point, but I've been there around 6pm and it was still open...

My parent is 80 years old, cannot walk much. After car park, do we still need to walk or climb for a while? Normal car can go up? or must be 4 wheel drive?
Written 23 February 2017

No buses. It's worth the cost of renting a car to explore the area! It's beautiful.
