About
The Moruya Museum, situated in the heritage-listed Emmott House, has an appealing collection of furniture, books, artefacts and memorabilia evoking the lives of the ordinary people of this community from the middle of the nineteenth century. The district’s social history is showcased in our thematic displays. These have considerable charm and are rotated to maintain interest and freshness. The museum is known for its regular exhibitions that highlight important sections of the museum’s collections as well as events in the community’s history.

Much history at this place including a deal of information regarding the granite used in the Sydney Harbour bridge and a large Lathe used to turn the pillars on the Sydney GPO.

Packed full of information about the settlement of Moruya. The timeline at the entrance was very interesting. The $5.00 entry is money well spent.

A piece of history

Great little museum....had more in it than I imagined, it being in a small coastal town. It's basically a period house , set up with many donations from the local community that are family heirlooms etc. It's very interesting, and the caretaker is very friendly and informative. There are leaflets available, that map a historic town walk, which gives more of a feel of life in the 1800's plus, in this area. Well worth a visit. Entry is $5 ea for adults , cant remember kids!

Local and Family History

This museum while small is packed with lots of interesting detail. In the main building, the rooms are fitted out with exhibits that were common in the early days of settlement. The washroom, in particular, had my wife saying thank you for modern Washer machines and dryers. In one of the outbuildings, I found equipment from old telephone exchanges that had me saying thank for mobile phones. Then there is the information about the local Granite used in the Pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the wartime importance of the Moruya airfield. This place is packed with al sorts of stuff and I am sure that you will find something to interest you.

Great Local History
Nov 2016
This museum gives a snapshot of life in the early days of Moruya. Of interest to many because of the use of Moruya granite for the pylons of the Sydenty Harbour Bridge.

Moruya Museum situated in an 1875 terrace house

An interesting building for a south coast country town, the Museum is in a typical English terrace with front verandah's added. Exhibits cover the history of the area and more.
