Train trip

This was an out and back. About 30 minutes each way. Nice views. Try to get a seat on side away from station for better view.

We enjoyed the scenic railway as a family adventure on a fall afternoon. It is a great way to see the gorge. An easy reccomendation.

Took this ride while we were in town to visit the Packer Mansion. This is a "down & back" excursion covering the same terrain coming & going and, even though we were there in October with the fall foliage adding interest, it wasn't very picturesque. Even if you were seated on the preferred river side of the train (there's very... More

Got to sit in the engine. Breathtaking views. Talked with different conductors all very informative. Don't pass up the train ride.

We took the afternoon train ride through the Lehigh Valley Gorge. It was fun with great scenery. Very crowded, glad we reserved tickets ahead of time.

Definitely spend the extra 5 dollars for the open air car if the weather is nice . It's about a 1 hour and 30 minute round trip ride along the lehigh valley river with many photo ops during the foliage season. A great little town to walk around in before or after the train ride. Highly recommended for a day... More

I had heard so much form others about how great this trip was that I think my expectations may have been too high. I will say that a lot of history of the areas we traveled through was shared by the conductor or whomever did the narration over the loud speakers in the train cars that day so if you... More

What a nice ride thru the gorge. We sat on the left side of the train and switch to the river side. If you ride on a busy day make sure you sit on the river side. And we sat in the enclosed car because it was so cold and windy but I would suggest siting in the open air... More

Was not impressed with this ride. We were in the open air car and could not hear any of what the guide was describing if the train was moving. Ride was much shorter than expected. It is something that you almost have to do when you are in Jim Thorpe, but my main take away was discovering where a good... More
