The 1-hour, 16-mile round-trip follows the Lehigh River over bridges, through Glen Onoko, into the Lehigh Gorge State Park. High-rising cliffs and mountain scenery surround the train along the route to Old Penn Haven. You will see hikers, rafters, mountain bikers, and wildlife around every curve of the railroad. You will learn about railroad lore, wildlife, flora, the history of the anthracite coal region, and the people who launched America into the Industrial Age.

Took a trip to Jim Thorpe to see the sights and visit our daughter in laws grandmother. The train station was next to the parking lot and my son said they enjoyed a trip on the train in the fall and asked if we would like to go for a ride. Since it was departing in 15 minutes we decided... More

A must for every train enthusiast. Beautifully restored cars and station. Knowledgeable staff. Great scenery (ESP if you are a Lehigh Valley fan). The tunnel entrance in the wall, Glen Oil stir the heart. No steam here, and they run weekend's only for the time being. If you get the chance take a ride.

This is approximately an hour ride round trip, but it runs through some exciting scenery of the old coal country. The original train station is well kept and provide quite a bit of historic info. The pay ($5 for all day) parking lot is right across the tracks from the station.

I went here once about eight years ago with my mother on a pretty fall day. Just went again during the holidays. This trip was different--we didn't have the beautiful fall foliage but the winter views were also scenic. We also brought a lot more of the family. It was a great activity for my toddler who had never before... More

Fun way to spend an hour for every age group. So happy that it snowed the night before and the view was beautiful. We got some good pics! Don't miss the little waterfall.

The train ride was 45 mins. we bought open car ticket just to be able to take photos during ride. The views were gorgeous. We enjoyed the scenic railway as a family adventure on a fall afternoon.

This is a popular destination and the train ride always seems to sell out. We were not able to purchase advance tickets so we had to wait in line 30 minutes to get tickets. You do not get assigned seats. Board early and sit on the River side. Families that came only 5 minutes before departure were split up ,... More

The train ride was very packed and you either need to purchase on line or get there early. Over all the ride was nice and full of Christmas Spirit throughout from the riders to the workers. There is not much scenery to see as the leaves have fallen, but seeing the waterways was very pretty. I would for sure due... More
