The Old Jail museum is a must when visiting Jim Thorpe PA. The guided tour is great. Lots of great history shared. Reasonably priced. Time of tour is good. Not long and drawn out.

Interesting to learn the history of the very old jail.The guided tour was interesting to see what conditions where like, including the dungeon in ther basement. And the gallows that inmates where hung while the towns people watched

Our tour of the Old Jail Museum was informative and brought you through the cell blocks, the dungeon, and warden's quarters. At the end of the tour you can walk around the building on your own if you wish to see anything again. Cute gift...More

I've lived in town 3 years. First visit to the jail. Loved it. Very interesting. Guides were very patient and informed on the history. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike.

Took a tour on our recent day trip. Enjoyed the tour. Very interesting! There are a lot of steps. I don’t recommend anyone having a difficult time walking to try and take the tour.More

Visited yhe old jail and learned about the molly mcguite conspiracy. Yhe your is awesome as well as the gallows. The building is well kept at pristine level . Even my hf got locked down, gallows excluded. A yrip worth yhe price. 5 stars

The jail was built in 1871 and closed in 1995. It contains 28 original cells, the wardens living quarters and 16 dungeon cells. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. .

Yes you can walk around the grounds Also the jail is up for sale If you are serious, you might contact them and get a personal tour

The Old Jail will be open in June every day EXCEPT WEDNESDAYS. The actual tour takes about 45 min. Depending upon the number of people ahead of you waiting for a tour, there may be a 20 minute waiting time. You may stay in... More

99tigers and Barbara A answered your question about the hours.. I will tell you that it is worth visiting. The hanging took place inside so you will have to wait until it opens to see it.
