I had some time. I went to this place. I had a great tour guide. Although it is small it is a great place to see.

Great tour and unique house
Jul 2019 • Couples
Meg, gave us a wonderful personal tour of this unique historic house. The interior painting is wonderful. So glad we made the detour to visit before busy crowded Philadelphia. Thank you Meg for opening it for us.

Nice place to visit
Jul 2019 • Family
This is a beautifully maintained facility. Tours are free (donations accepted at the exit). The tour guide was very nice and informative. Plenty of free parking. They have a covered picnic area for your use. A good place to visit if you are in the area.

Lovely

I was here a couple of days ago with my cousin for a tour. Fortunately we were the only ones and it felt like a private tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us plenty of history of this house, the Wentz family and what part George Washington played in being here.

It was nice to see how the rooms were done with items that were indicative to that era. We learned a lot and it is nice to see that this house is being preserved.

Hidden gem near Merrymead Farm
Aug 2018 • Family
Peter Wentz Farmstead includes a beautifully maintained home built in the mid 1700s, which has retained the original materials. There are also demonstrations, a garden, sheep, and walking paths. The tour is about an hour, and our group of 6 including two teens, 2 parents, and 2 grandparents thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The kids were not inclined to be engaged, but the tour guide threw in such interesting tidbits about day-to-day life that they couldn't help but pay attention. We lucked out and had the curator lead our group, and she was exceptionally well-versed in life in the revolutionary war time period.
The grounds are easily navigated, but the stairs up and down inside the home are narrow and may be difficult for elderly.
I am looking forward to returning often, especially when the exhibit focusing on enslaved people opens in January. And... George Washington stayed here :-)

Informative 1 hour or so visit. Very quiet and quaint time. Sheep are so cute. Tour guide is very nice. The home is narrow so be careful going up and down the stairs. It was cool to see where Washington might have stayed.

Very impresive house

We stopped by after visiting the less-then-inspiring Valley Forge National Historic Park. I did not expect much from this visit, but it was something to do on a beautiful day before the bombogenesis struck. It was awesome, especially if you like visiting old houses! Our guide Ginny was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun. The house has been restored really well and contains a great deal of 'period' artifacts that are not often seen in one place. Oh - and "Washington slept here"! Well worth a visit.

18th Century Farmstead Beautifully Maintain
Oct 2017 • Family
A look at a part of Pennsylvania as it was in the colonial era this 18th century farmstead is wonderful in any season. It is a credit the Montgomery County Parks System for preserving this for posterity. Take the tour or just enjoy the extensive trains and lovey grounds. The homestead including tours is free however if one see the opportunity to leave a donation it is well used and appreciated.
