What a wonderful place, surprisingly more than we had hoped for. Open all year round, though only on certain days in winter months. The museum is great and, together with the tunnels makes such an interesting experience. There is a short audio display and there...More

We saw a programme about Porthcurno on the TV several months ago about the history of the cables being laid. It was fascinating and we decided to pay a visit when on holiday. It has a great museum, well worth a visit, also very interactive.

If like me you didn’t know about these underwater cables (how did that get past me!) you will be blown away by the vast network built well before all the technology we have now. Staffed by an original member who worked there, and other staff...More

A hidden gem, off the beaten track, and a fascinating piece of history. Once, Britain was really the centre of the world and the epicentre was not London, but Porthcurno near which in the 19th century was where all the sub-mariner telegraph cables from around...More

It’s a telegraph museum so if your not interested in that kind of stuff you will find it boring. But we loved it. There are clothes to try on, tunnels to explore, and an imformative talk. We loved making our own morse code messages. Make...More

We arrived here without planning to do so, while travelling in this lovely area. The museum is very interesting and educational (probably more for nerds like me...), it covers the evolution of the telegraph technology and displays some very interesting exhibits. The most fascinating exhibit...More

A very interesting and extensive museum, well worth a visit and we had no idea Porthcurno was so important globally. A great way to spend a rainy morning.

£9.50 to get in is well OTT especially as the museum is dull. Poorly explained and lots of rather pointless exhibits. As an electronics engineer I understand how this stuff works and I felt it was not explained well and was totally haphazard. With a...More
