Traveled with Repine Travel by bus to Elkins , West Virginia to board the Tygart Flyer through the mountain of West Va. It was an enjoyable rail ride with a "hobo " lunch included. It was very scenic traveling along the river on one side then the mountain on the other side. A guide on the train shared local lore... More

It's a coal mine in an extremely wonderful area of Pennsylvania. We had arrived shortly after 1:00 pm thinking that we would not end up on that tour but luckily, the earlier tour had been running a bit late and we got on the 1:00 tour! After we paid for our tour, we got our helments and went outside where... More

Nice place to visit with the grand kids! The grandson asked many questions--the guide did not answer correctly on just one question.

I was here as a kid 30 years ago and have now brought my kids. You get to ride the train into the coalmine. There are a couple of places that the guide lets you get out for pictures. The guide we had was a retired coalminer and shared his personal experiences with us. Just check the hours of operation... More

Our little one has been infatuated with mining. We recently visited this attraction that we found online. It's a real coal mine that isn't in use anymore. The men who were there are miners who volunteer. It is in a very rural area. The tour is about an hour. It's cooler in the mine so bring a coat. You sit... More

My granddaughter and i visited the mine this summer. The former miner gave a very personal perspective of the industry that was so important to this area. Fee very reasonable. I miss the miners home display. I've taken my children , grandchildren, and friends here on different occasions and have learned something new each time.

We are finishing taking our three grandchildren, one at a time, to see the Seldom Seen Tourist Coal Mine near Patton, Pennsylvania. We learned a great deal from the retired coal miners who take you through the mine in covered mine cars that are pulled by an engine, called a motor. If you want to learn more about the life... My brother had been wanting to take this tour for years. He finally talked my nephew and me into doing it. Being Pennsylvania natives, mining is part of our heritage--even though no one in our immediate family was a minor. I was pretty nervous since I don't like enclosed spaces. You take a little train into the mine. I admit... More

This was a fun experience. I took my four year old son and his two older cousins. They all seemed to enjoy going underground. The tour guides are all retired miners and answer a ton of questions. If you are from the area you MUST go here and check out the local attractions.
