We traveled from a few hours away to experience the Aviary as my child loves birds. We were not disappointed. The aviary is obviously smaller than zoo's etc but is really well done. There is the ability to interact with the birds beyond the feedings. We did not try many of the feedings but still got to experience birds being... More

My first visit was as a child, I've returned with my children, and visit now as an empty nester. I loved it then & love it now. It was interesting to see how it's expanded over the years. I find it to be relaxing & enjoyable, an at-your-own-pace experience. If I lived in town, I'd probably be here weekly.

It was our 1st time to the Aviary, and we enjoyed it with family. There was a lot to see and unexpected sights. Since we were there in the summer they had an outdoor butterfly exhibit which was great. Kids would love the whole thing.

Came with several friends and pleasantly surprised by all the wonderful birds and exhibits.Got to feed the ducks and the lorikeets which was incredible. Also got to see Valentino up close for feeding and the penguins diving for food.

The people were nice and the animals seemed healthy. It's kind of an odd building to navigate; not very eye catching or enthralling once inside (kind of gloomy I thought). The big open exhibits were the best part (wetlands, grasslands, etc....). We fed the Lorikeets which was cool; I was kind of disappointed in the enclosure and how little nectar... More

This place is amazing and had more than just a few birds. Make sure you go early and grab a schedule to see all the feeding times when the birds are interactive. They have a cafe there for lunch or you can try somewhere on the North Side. This may take less than a full day to see everything but... More

And amazing gem located in Pittsburgh. Very interesting as you can interact with the birds up close and personal. The birds are colorful and you can walk through many displays. It also has real Pittsburgh penguins. A wonderful way to spend a winter's day.

My 8 year old daughter and I ended up staying an entire day here! So many close encounters with so many birds. They also have different presentations all day long in the different rooms with chances to feed and interact with birds. Absolutely worth a stop if you are in the area or passing through.

I love the aviary and have become a member since they have a lot of fun things to see and do. They have grown a lot over the years and my favorite things to see are the indoor/outdoor penguin exhibit, the bats, and the sloth that we have watched grow from a tiny little guy. The open air aviary sections... More
