This retired U.S. submarine is way cool to visit.I seriously doubt I could live on it for an extended period of time as its crew so obviously had to. The ancient, almost jerry-rigged nature of the vessel's mechanics is fascinating. Every square inch is used. Highly recommended for adults and children alike Our 4-year old granddaughter loves to visit and... More

Had a great visit with my kids (9&11) at New Year's Eve. You only have to show proof of admission if you go below deck, where a couple of friendly and knowledgeable staff are there to answer questions and point you in the right direction. You get to explore a single level of the submarine, with the tower and the... More

Went down the ladder and they had a guy that was a sub sailor meet you. lots of great information and would answer any questions. had another guy that was a volunteer and seemed a little cranky. All in all the sub is very well maintained and worth the visit

This is included with the Carnegie Science Center admission. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a really cool walk through tour of the submarine. It has rooms closed off showing typical items to be found in the submarine and it also has a pathway to the back of the submarine. There are very steep stairs to get... More

By buying admission to the Science Center, you can explore the workings of a submarine. This is a wonderful opportunity to take a tour of a underwater vehicle for adults and children. This may be the only time you get to explore a submarine. Wear good walking shoes as the floors can be slippery.

Need a taste of the military life, then visit the USS Requin. Everything is done well with attention to details. It was very informative for a non military person.

Great exhibit, the self guided tour was excellent. We stopped and chatted to a member of the museum staff located in the front torpedo bay, he was extremely knowledgable and really knew the history and the operation of the Sub. We didn't go into the main museum as it seemed to be more child orientated, I would recommend a visit... More

The self-guiding tour includes several interactive screens, allowing people to choose topics of interest for more detailed information. These included trivia and stories as well as dry facts - something for everyone. It is also nice that you could sit at the dining tables and walk into a berth. I found it interesting that the main walkway was effectively low-ceilinged... More

This is one of my favorite exhibits. The ship is located adjacent to the Carnegie Science Center, but you can access it without buying museum tickets if you don't want to see the Science Center. The tour is mostly self-guided and takes you from bow to stern aboard a late WW2 era submarine. The passageways are rather narrow, but I'm... More
