A truly wonderful experience. The performance is one of the best that I have seen in a long time. It was exactly what its name says, Opera (that you could understand) Theater (Acting as in Broadway.) thrown into the mix was comedy. Funny comedy. My 8 yr. old grandson loved it as well. He was dreading it when my co-worker... More

This was my first opera experience and I know it'll be hard to top! First of all, the setting at the historic Snuggery Farm was charming and inviting. We admired the scenery while dining al fresco - everyone was clearly enjoying the beautiful setting! Then, we settled into our seats in the intimate historic barn for the show. All seats... More

We saw Carmen, the Gypsy, Julius Caesar, The Silent Woman, and Kiss Me Kate. We enjoyed all these performances. Since they were all in English, with text displayed, they were easier to appreciate. There were many different performers for these productions, and most were very accomplished singers. Carmen was outstanding for her acting and singing. The modernist touches in Julius... More

We had heard two performances in 2015 of this summer opera festival and we were hooked. This year we came to Pittsburgh for the whole month of July so we could hear all of the performances The Broadway musical they did was Kiss Me, Kate and we loved it. Took our grandchildren and they loved it, too. They did three... More

During the past three weeks, we have had the opportunity to experience 5 events - four operas and the Marianne Cornetti recital. Each event was extremely enjoyable and entertaining. Opera Theatre Pittsburgh continues to grow in stature as it delights and challenges its audiences. As its reputation spreads, I am sure, it will soon become a nationally recognized "must attend"... Having just completed my third year of attending Opera Theater of Pittsburgh's Summerfest, I can say I'm truly amazed by the quality of the productions concentrated in a short three week period. Great singers have been a part of the past two seasons but I was even more impressed by the vocal excellence of this year's casts which extended all... More

The Summerfest is a rather amazing event .... 3 weeks of opera, musical theater, recitals and fun events. It is organized and run by a core group of remarkable professionals, but then includes young beginning-of-career theatre professionals from all over the country. These young artists are just amazing ... so talented, dedicated, fun !! In the short span, we saw... More

We've been attending Opera Theater performances since 2005, when they did a wonderful abbreviated Ring Cycle in English. All of the performances are in English but most still have supertitles, so if you are unfamiliar with the work, it's easier to understand. In 2011, they initiated the Summerfest program, which nicely fills in July with a profusion of performances. We... More

This was he worst show ever. You couldn't understand any of the horrible actors. The orchestra was average. If you are looking to see a great show this summer I DO NOT recommend this.

I took my children - three boys aged 11, 10, and 6 - to see Little Red Riding Hood at the Three Rivers Arts Festival and I also saw Carmen the Gypsy at Snuggery Farm. Little Red was fun, funny, accessible to all three of my children's ages, and enjoyable for me to watch too. A perfect family activity! It... More
