..of dead cops here. Right now I should be thinking of all these men and women who died in the service of our communities - super great people that came from all races and cultures. I should also be thinking of the families and orphans they left behind. But my thoughts are mostly about all that's going on in our country right now especially with race and the police. I mean I have a heart and realize that people of color are suffering from violence by police at way higher levels than people who look like me. But I think it's something more of societal issue causing it as opposed to a law enforcement one. Fear is driving it. Cops are scared and overreacting because society is scared and people overreact. The bottom line for me is that cops need to do whatever they need to do to go home at night. Obviously, there are problems that must be addressed like why black men die way too much when the cops are around. Some form of education for the police to address this is definitely in order. Personally I think it's all about gun control. The cops think they have to be in control of every single aspect of every situation they're in, and I don't blame them with all the weapons and guns on the street. I know I don't experience the fear and violence that others do from the police, still my values are that I shouldn't be telling the police how to do their jobs and safely go back to their families and loved ones everyday. They deserve and I want to be give them the benefit of doubt in all circumstances, and this monument is the reason why. Where was I? Visually, the thing I like the most here is the old police telegraph box. Of course the statue of the policeman and his dog stands out. I guess though if you were ever attacked by a police canine, you might not like looking at it.

A very nice tribute

The Pittsburgh Law enforcement memorial to fallen officers is a nice tribute. It's located on the North Shore park and not far from Heinz Field. Take a walk and stop here to rest and enjoy.

Gone but not forgotten
Feb 2019 • Couples
We were just walking around the park one lazy Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon this memorial as we approached the water. It was originally dedicated in Aug 1996 near the now demolished Three Rivers Stadium. In May 2003 they moved it to it's current location in a re-dedication ceremony next to the Tribute to Children memorial.

On display is an old Gamewell Fire Alarm and Police call box long gone and out of operations since the 1980s. It is called "Last Call". Another display is the bronze statue "Ever Watchful" of an officer watching over the city. Inscribed on the granite wall is a famous poem titled "A Part of America Died".

A sobering tribute

Located next to the Mr. Rogers statue. You should take the time to read the wall. It tells a sobering story. We were touched by this tribute. I hope you will be too.

I was really happy to see this memorial. It is such a great memorial. Simple yet effective. Really just a reminder of all that police officers do daily for all of us.

This memorial is small but professionally done. It is one of the better "small" memorials that I have seen.
Worth a stop to pay your respects.
Great views of the city and review.

Also beautiful ceremony here each year in May.

Simple yet very effective

There's a beautiful statue of a policeman and dog, surrounded with the names of local fallen officers. In this case, less is more--there's little to detract from the purpose of this memorial. The emphasis is on giving one's life for others, and this memorial does it very well. Honor their sacrifices by spending some time here.

Nice thought

The thought behind the memorial is nice but the memorial itself can be easily missed if one is not paying attention. It stands close to Mr. Rogers statue.

OUTSTANDING MEMORIAL TO FALLEN OFFICERS
Aug 2015 • Couples
We visited the Law-Enforcement Officer's Memorial while attending the National FOP conference. The memorial recognizes the officers who were killed in the line of duty. The memorial also recognizes police K-9s.
