It was the year 1829 when Americans were getting used to their newly elected president, Andrew Jackson, that 23-year old David G. Yuengling, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, settled in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and started a brewery.

Originally named the Eagle Brewery, today the Yuengling pride, symbolic of the American Eagle. Each Yuengling label bears the eagle trademark chosen by young David Yuengling so long ago.

Previously located on Centre Street, current site of Pottsville's after only two years of operation. A new brewery was then constructed on Mahantongo Street, where operations

continue today.

The brewery remains family operated by Richard "Dick" Yuengling, Jr. and his daughters are being groomed as the sixth generation.

We have been wanting to do this tour for a long time. We learned a lot about the brewery and the rich history of the Yuengling family. It was neat to walk through the hand-dug caves and to image how hard people had to work to make a living in the late 1800s. The bottling section of the plant was... More

Took my friend to the Yuengling Brewery for the tour today. It was her first time, I'd been there a few times before. Our tour guide, JJ, was amazing. I've already been there before but I still managed to learn a thing or two. My friend and I were the only two people on the 10AM tour and it lasted... More

I did a tour of Yuengling 20 years ago, and then again last Friday. Some things have changed (of course, it's been 20 years), but the tour was still well worth it and very informative. The beer tasting at the end is really nice and the gift shop is huge. We just missed meeting Dick Yuengling, which made us sad.... More

Lived in this area for years before finally visiting the "oldest brewing compamy in America"! very interesting tour, including the area of the caves used to keep "the brew" cold before refrigeration. (Who knows - there might have even been some prohibition era "work" done down there!!).

The tour here is lots of fun. I really enjoyed the stories about Prohibition and the free beers at the end.

The tour was very nice however we heard from other tour goers and the tour guide that it has been scaled back. Sadly someone on a tour recently touched something they shouldn't have and a batch of beer did not brew and was wasted. Apparently there was another area that former tour goers said was really cool but that too... More

Back in the early 1980's my uncle was the Mayor of a local town near here. Whenever we came to visit, the first thing he did was hand us a Yuengling. He was so proud of "his" local brewery. This was our first visit to this Oldest Brewery in America. What a pleasure to visit! We were the first tour... More

What an awesome experience. This is a must visit for any beer enthusiast. The staff is very friendly and the tour guides knowledgeable about the history of the establishment. Make sure you check the dates and times of tours and operation. We visited on a Saturday and didn't get to see the production line in use but were okay with... More

Loved the tour! Couldn't get enough! They explained everything nicely and gave time for us to take pictures. The tour guide was extremely friendly and the taste testing at the end was perfect. The gift shop was filled with treasures and I left with a large amount of goodies that anyone would love.
