It took me years to convince my husband and son to come visit Lake Shawnee with me. Now, we come here almost every summer. We have used the paddle boats, canoes and row boats. Sometimes we take our Labrador Retriever on the row boat. It's...More

They have a trail that goes around the lake. We usually ride our bicycles. Pretty scenery. Fishing. Swimming in the summer months. Campground too. Not too crowded.

We went there during the fall, swimming was closed, but you could still go to the beach. Very pretty to just grab a cup of coffee and hang out.

After our visit to the Flight 93 Memorial Park we stopped for lunch at Shawnee Park. I would recommend this park because it has a good walking trail. There are picnic tables near the water which is a good place to relax after a day...More

We are in this area several times a year as we travel between our home near Washington DC and family in Pittsburgh. We highly recommend Route 30 between Irwin and Breezewood. Shawnee is not only a good place to camp for a few days, but...More

We stayed at The Lodge, an old house situated across the road about 50 yards from the lake. This was one of the best features of the vacation because we could leave our kayaks on the bank and jump in for a paddle any time....More

This is one of PA's greatest parks, camping, swimming, hiking and fishing. It's a large park with a large lake, we are campers so that's what we are really reviewing. The campground is well kept, clean restrooms and showers. Plenty of sites that can fit...More

Spend a day or a weekend at this hidden treasure. Nice beach. Picnic areas are open and covered. The covered ones need to be reserved. The park has boat rentals and a boat dock for your personal boat. Plenty of parking. The park is well...More

My husband and I will be staying at the lodge with our 4 kids in August. We have never been to Shawnee State Park. After looking on Google Earth, I am concerned about the location of the lodge. We were hoping for something more secluded. Is there much traffic along the road beside the house? Also, do we have access to the water with our kayaks from the island or will we have to drive to a launching site? Also, how far is the beach for swimming? My husband also wondered about getting firewood since we will not be in the woods. Does the house have a grill for cooking and are there laundry facilities? I also need to know what size beds are in the house to bring the correct sheets! Thank you so much for any info anyone can give us about the lodge at Shawnee State Park, PA. We are looking forward to our stay.

I was there only for a day trip. We did drive around on a small Road around the entire park. On the way back from the camping area we passed the lodge on our left. It was right off of this road on the left where you could... More

I just answered my own question as I did locate a map that shows a road going to the island.
