By crossing a road, you can learn about the animal covered home of the tribal living in Lancaster and then about Hans Herr, one of the earliest settlers in Lancaster. History abounds in Pennsylvania and Lancaster is no exception. The best tour guide in a...More

This is a small, volunteer-run museum but very interesting and informative. The house is fascinating and although we didn't stay for the Longhouse (Indian dwelling) tour (it was too cold for us to stay outside) we enjoyed our visit. Good for school age children studying...More

The tour of the house and Longhouse exceeded our expectations! The tour guide we had (David) was also the curator of the museum. He is extremely knowledgeable about many of the historical artifacts and was able to answer any question we asked him. He was...More

We decided to stop by this place on a Friday morning. That day there were multiple field trips scheduled to be there and we were warned by the staff that it would be crowded with elementary age children but that was ok with us and...More

It's a quaint place too visit, and the tour is quite informational. Afterwards you are able to walk around the grounds and explore.

I highly recommend a tour of the Hans Herr House due to its rather unusual architecture. Besides being a fairly early (1719) colonial home, its claim to fame is that it preserves a German architectural style seldom found in the U.S. The tour was very...More
