First, it is in the factory site. No sign by the road. When you go in, keep to the left. It is a large place. One side for retail sales, the other the museum. It is used for assemblies, assuming for weight lifting. The items are old and some really need upkeep. Maybe a rainy day 1/2 hour stop

My (adult) son is a fan of weightlifting and exercise, so we stopped here on our way elsewhere. It is free to visit for a self-guided tour. The information on the York Barbell founder, Bob Hoffman, was presented in an attractive way. There were historical documents, such as letters from the White House. It was informative. If you read all... More

We decided to check out this museum after we toured the Harley Davidson factory nearby. It's a small museum that doesn't take long to go through but we found it to be interesting. It does need to be updated with more current exhibits though.

How many people do YOU know who have visited the USA Weightlifting Hall of Fame? That was reason enough for our group to make the stop. Turns out, we're glad we did! The 8,000 square foot facility covers the history of strength sports from the early Olympic games to the modern sports of weightlifting, powerlifting, and bodybuilding. One of the... More

The Weightlifting Hall of Fame is in here, along with a retail store. Takes about 60 minutes maximum, if you read everything. There are some cool facts and artifacts to look at, especially if you are interested in fitness.

Informative and worth visting. Takes about an hour to go thru. I was disappointed that no champions or trophies are listed past 2000. Someone there should update it.

First off, thank you for your review and glad your enjoyed your visit. Secondly, to your point on the updating of the museum. Visited the museum at the York Barbell factory. Found it to be an interesting and an enjoyable 30 - 45 minutes of my time. The walk through is free and at your leisure. Would recommend it to fitness buffs or weightlifters (old and new).

Loved the exhibits there. It's great for the family, but I suggest that you take older children. Boys may like it more than girls, but my female students also enjoyed the tour and museum.
