Hunting Island State Park is just that, a state park. Do not expect restaurants. That being said, it is a gem! Sand dollars galore, wide open beach, miles of walking.

Unfortunately the park is still closed, won't reopen until Memorial Day in May. We were able to visit the Nature Centre and the boardwalk. It looks amazing. We did walk to Russ Point Boat Landing which was nice - did see a few songbirds. Stopped in Nature Centre but person on shift and state park officer didn't welcome us or... More

We visited the park in November and it was still closed due to the damage done by Hurricane Matthew. We did stop by the visitor center and went out on the pier. It is in a wonderful natural area and the info about the tidal area and about the hurricane damage were very interesting.

Beautiful secluded beach - at least in September. Good gift shop with snacks. Beautiful drive through park from main road to the beach,

Visits this park several times over the past six months. The beach is the only public beach in the Beaufort, SC area. It is closed until some time in 2017 for extensive repairs due to extensive infrastructure damage done by hurricane Matthew.

Loved the wildly untouched feel of the park, the beach near the lighthouse was beautiful, as was the view from the top!

Great family place our just adults. Beach is beautiful and so is the park. You can go up in the lighthouse for a couple dollars and they are pretty intense about getting those couple of bucks from you. They do stamp lighthouse passports at visitor center or at the lighthouse.

Our visit was on a rainy day and the visitor center was not open when we arrived; however we walked around and a small alligator was in the water below the deck. So cool. On to the lighthouse, which we did climb. We were there early and with the weather, there were only 2 other guests. Great view at the... More
