We received an unwelcoming feeling by the house tour guide. While the house is nice to look at and photographic, the obvious annoyed lady ruined the visit. She rushed through the rooms while offering little information. It was evident she didn't want to be there...More

This is a great example of a unmodified 18th century home. The furnishings are of the period and in near perfect condition. If you want to see how they lived in the late 1700's, this is the place to go.

This was one of my favorites. Not because of the house, but more because of the tour guide’s style. She didn’t just share dates and names that are so forgettable. She focused a lot on the stories of who these people were and what made...More

Did this tour on a hot summer afternoon; guide was helpful and provided a thorough overview of the history of the house and restoration of it. Building is air conditioned thankfully. Doesn’t take more than 30 mins to see the house and garden and kitchen...More

Pres washington did not live here, however he stayed here at one time. The house is interesting inside and the tour offers good insights into the past history of the US and Charleston. There is also some incredible furniture here because of the ties to...More

I’ve loved every historic home I have had the pleasure of touring in my travels to the Holy City, but this one was special because of something OUTSIDE the house! After we checked in, we were invited to meander through the re-created garden behind the...More

Was the first of four historic houses I visited and everything I learned during my tour (with Brooke, I believe? She just started in May after having graduated college then and is excellent!) served as a foundation for the other three houses I visited after...More

This is not only one of the oldest preserved houses in Charleston, it is one of the nicest. We bought a 3-ticket combination with the Charleston Museum and the Joseph Manigault House. I think all three places were really above average. This house had a...More

There are slave houses in the back . The inside is filled with period pieces, some are original to the house. . Give some you idea how the wealthy lived. George Washington do sleep here.

This was a nice house to visit. The guided tour was not so nice as I felt that our guide wanted to be somewhere else. The house itself was well presented, and I truly enjoyed that gardens at the back next to the kitchen building.

The outside grounds are self-guided and took approximately 30 min. The guided tour of the home was about an hour.
