There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks.

Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST).

We enjoyed a carriage tour of Charleston with our guide Mike and his horse Dave. Our new friends took us on a one-hour tour of Rainbow Row, the Battery and Church Street. Mike was full of great stories without being overbearing. We enjoyed his varying southern accent. Dave the horse was very patient as we all waited behind a garbage... More

Only in Charleston for the day. We found this tour to be an awesome way to see parts of the historic district to get our day started. Weston our guide was excellent, he had the right balance of knowledge and humor. Tom the horse was a character that made the tour even more enjoyable.

We had gorgeous weather on Sat., Feb. 11th, and my sisters and I decided to go on a carriage tour for the first time, even though we have been going to Wild Dunes for over 20 years! We chose Old South Carriage Company mainly from the reviews, but we found their carriages looked nicer than some others we saw. We... More

We really enjoyed our ride. The only con is that with all the construction it was sometimes difficult to hear. (we were in the back) "The Good Looking John" was knowledgeable, funny, and gave a great tour. I highly recommend taking the hour to go on a tour.

Had a driver-in-training and an excellent guide. Very thorough, informative and engaging hour. We tasted the magic of Charleston's history and how it came to be. The knowledge provided by the guide Increased our desire to do a walking tour to go inside some of the homes/museums/cemeteries and graveyards.

We took a relaxing afternoon carriage ride and I absolutely loved the history and stories that Carrol shared with our group! The entire ride was smooth and beautiful on a 70 degree afternoon. Our route through the French quarter was divine! I was fascinated with all of the information Carrol provided and she did an awesome job providing additional recommendations... More
