Let a fourth-generation Charlestonian introduce you to one of the most charming cities in the country. Explore quiet alleys as well as busy streets with someone who has written six books on Charleston and writes regularly about it for local publications. Private tours are available any day of the week or you can join a regularly scheduled public tour on Friday and Saturday mornings. (On the public tour, no more than 12 tickets will be sold per tour, allowing for a more personal experience.) Come share your guide’s love for a place, a history, and a culture that has been part of her family for more than 175 years.

Mary Coy was the most resourceful, interesting guide who also is very accommodating: she generously changed our tour time to the next day when rain threatened to interfere with the walk.. She is a fifth generation Charlestonian who knows the history of the city, as...More

The Charleston 101 tour is the most professional history tour we have taken. Mary Coy has a unique perspective because she was raised in Charleston. She does not just follow a script like some "history tours". We have been on several history tours in Charleston...More

Mary is a life-long Charlestonian and has fascinating stories from family members that I doubt you would get on many of the other tours. We took a private tour because of my elderly mother, and it was worth every penny. Perfect introduction to Charleston.
