Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

Michael's knowledge of the city's history, anecdotes of it's characters, and his wonderful delivery of each story made this a interesting and entertaining tour. We would do it again tomorrow.

Michael, as a Charleston native, offers non-stop back-stories and anecdotes that make his tour both informative and entertaining. The amount of history and architectural notes he conveys in such a short time is impressive, peppered with insights about the people behind the facades 'then' and now. Really a bargain for what you pay. Fast-paced and highly recommended!

The tour itself was not bad and we saw some lovely buildings. We downgraded the ranking because we felt like he was rude when we asked a question.

I am very sorry that the reviewer took a response to be rude that was not meant that way at all. I joke with guests along the route each day and make jokes on myself as well. At one point, the reviewer asked "how much to these houses run?" and I said, "oh, about one hundred yards", then laughed, and... More

We went on Mike's tour this past weekend and really enjoyed it. He is super knowledgeable and engaging. There's a reason it's the number 1 tour in Charleston. We noticed several carriage tours going on at the same time throughout the city, but for a number of reasons feel like a walking tour is the way to go. You're able... More

Excellent walking tour by Michael Trouche. He has a flair for stories; excellent insight into the local community, and wonderful perspective on a charming city. Well worth the two hours - but a word of warning - Michael's tour is a bit fast paced so there is lots of information in a seemingly short period of time. I'd probably take... More

Just enjoyed Michael Trouche's Charleston Footprints 2 hour walking tour this morning. I cannot imagine there being anyone else in Charleston who can come close to Michael's breadth and depth of Charleston history, anecdotes, and architectural knowledge. He is, by far, the best tour guide in Charleston. And - he is 7th generation Charleston. Book his tour, you will not... More
