Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative...

Enchanting historic Charleston comes alive on entertaining and informative walking tours with 7th-generation Charleston native Michael Trouche. Discover stunning architecture, glorious gardens, Civil and Revolutionary War sites, cobblestone streets, wrought iron gates, legendary graveyards, and the local flavor of the fabled “Holy City” that no one knows better than Michael, who grew up in the famous "South of Broad" area, and has written two popular books on Charleston, where his family has lived for more than 215 years. Michael won numerous prestigious awards as host of the acclaimed "Carolina Camera" television program for 20 years on the local Charleston CBS affiliate, and has charmed tour guests for 10 years with his unparalleled knowledge of South Carolina's history, culture, plants and animals, as well as colorful insights, locations and anecdotes that only a lifelong Charleston native would truly know.

We booked a walking tour with Michael based on TA reviews and the reality even outdid the raves. His knowledge, passion, humor, personal and family anecdotes all contributed to a great 2 hours. We did the tour during our first full (of 5) day in the city and it made everything else even more enjoyable. Can't imagine a better way... More

Took the walking tour with Michael and he was great. He provided insightful information in an entertaining way which held the interest of all throughout the tour. We saw interesting homes and learned quite a bit about the city. The two hours flew by. I highly recommend this tour.

Michael has turned the walking tour into an art form. Do yourselves a favor and schedule with him before you do anything else in Charleston. His knowledge and personal anecdotes made every subsequent walk we took in the city (and we took lots of them) so enjoyable.

The previous reviews are spot on. Took lots of tours the last few days, but Michael is by far the best, easy to hear, even with a large group. Just take THIS tour, enough said!

This was perhaps the best your we have been on anywhere, anytime. Michael provided a wealth of information focusing on history, but also covering information on architecture, botany, and lore. He managed a large group well (making sure he knew all our names and home states), personalizing information and making sure to engage all of us.

Arrived in Charleston the previous evening so a great way to start our trip. Able to book with tour guide Michael that morning & he directed us from our hotel, the Planters Inn. This was one of the best walking tours we've ever experienced. We had a small group of seven and Michael looked after us extremely well during our... More

A fact filled, fast paced tour of historic Charleston. Michael goes out of his way to learn and use peoples' name - pretty amazing in such a short time together. No question stumped him - knows his stuff! Enjoyed tour and would highly recommend it.

This is a great tour for newbies to Charleston. It helps you get the "lay of the land" and gives some of the history of the city. I especially liked Michael's personal touches (his own experiences as well as his ancestors'). I recommend that you do this on day 1 on a visit to Charleston as it shows you places... More

This was an outstanding tour and I highly recommend you do it early in your stay. Michael fills it with information and humor and keeps you moving and entertained. It made Charleston seem more like a friend than just a city.
