We stayed at the Spectator hotel and our butler Chuck recommended this tour. We were absolutely amazed by the way Martha introduced us to her city!
All the history about it and all the beautiful places she took us.
Will recommend this to everyone!
We enjoyed our stroll around the historic part of Charleston with this local, Martha Middleton.... she added a personal perspective and her knowledge and enthusiasm was even more than we had hoped for on our walking tour....
13th generation Charleston resident Martha Middleton, a practicing archaeologist, was a fountain of information. She greeted us with a warm smile, explained the history in flawless detail, was pleasant, and answered numerous questions during the tour with our group of 12. Other tour groups had...More
We took the afternoon tour on a Sunday. We drive down from Myrtle Beach to spend the day in Charleston. Our only problem was running into some traffic on the drive which put us a little behind. We had a little difficulty finding where to...More
On 9/21 my Mom, sister and I wound up getting a private tour with Martha, an unexpected bonus! We never would have discovered the various alleyways, gardens courtyards and neighborhoods we experienced without this tour. Martha is very knowledgable and presented an intelligent, historic, very...More
I had Bradley Wallace as the guide (the husband of one of the Middleton's). He was enthusiastic, answered everyone's questions, and was extremely knowledgeable about the area. He added personal anecdotes to the history which was a nice touch. I highly recommend this tour based...More

The tour has many stops and between the stops it’s a regular pace of walking. I’m not sure how your knee would be by then but another thing to consider is the tour covers a large distance around town. There might be a more accommodating tour option (I.e. bus tour or maybe a Segway tour). No need to blowout your knee on a walking tour - do it on a jet ski or something cool. 😜 Happy 50th!
I am certainly a dog lover, and I don't mind. However, people on tour may be a little nervous around dogs. Please be sure to have the dog on a leash, bring water, and try to be curtious of others. Thanks, Anne
