This is a GREAT museum. It's free and in less than 30 minutes you can find out everything you didn't know about the first scheduled train service in the US! I discovered it only recently in spite of frequent visits to Charleston over the past...More

My family and I found this little train museum by accident or luck while exploring the area around this visitor center and the Charleston museum. My kids though this was the neatest train they have seen and were amazed that trains of this design were...More

This is a very small museum but is worth a stop if you are in the area (The Visitor's Center is nearby). It is free, and I enjoyed learning some about the history of the train and it's impact on Charleston.

We went because my son loves trains. It was even smaller than expected and my kids were more interested in the rocks under the train. Since it was free I can't complain

Great museum located in historic district near hotels and childrens museum. Its small but fascinating. Kids would love it. Adults too check hours before going. Its not open late-or it wasnt in mid April.

You likely are visiting Charleston and taking a city tour. When you return to the visitation center, take twenty minutes and go next door to the train museum. It is amazing to see how they built not only the tracks but how they came up...More

You may not know about this museum, it is sort of a hidden gem. Free to the public and located behind the visitor center, the museum is a nice stopover between the visitor center and your next tour bus. Beautiful train and lots of information....More
