A little known fact, on many Fridays they have speakers come and talk about all sorts of things related to the history of South Carolina - battles and personalities in particular. There is no charge which is an added bonus. Half the museum doesn't change, but the other half has rotating themes. Strong on American Revolution and the Civil War.... More

The information & artifacts were impressive. Staff knowledgeable & welcomed questions. Staff explained there was a "myth" but an archeological dig proved it correct! The museum has the arrowhead to confirm the myth as fact.

The Confederate Relic Room is a hidden treasure. The exhibits are first class, and well worth a visit. Try to set aside at least two hours to really appreciate all the museum has to offer.

Good for history buffs, one visit...well presented but just your average museum. We hit a special sterotype display that was moving but a bit gruesome for kids

A must see exhibit about SC vets who joined WWI and their experiences and efforts. It is hard for people to realize that the end of the Civil war was not hat long before WWI only 52 years difference and SC had been largely decimated and was rebuilding, but still working on it. It gives you a feeling of the... More

Coupled with the Civil War display in the South Carolina State Museum, together it is a tremendous collection of relics from the Civil War. Anybody with any interest in the Civil War if travelling in the area needs to stop and check out both displays.

This museum has military exhibits unique to South Carolina. One gets a very accurate feel for "how things were" through the efforts of the skilled and objective staff. Listening to a living history lecture by Joe Long is well worth the trip!

Great place to learn OUR history! This is something we all should know. My ancestors fought for both sides in the war, as I am from Maryland. I love knowing ALL of the history

Interesting exhibits very much related to South Carolina history. Look for the rotating exhibit on the left side of the entry area.
