JOIN US FOR A SHELLING AND LIGHTHOUSE CRUISE ABOARD THE CAROLINA ROVER!

The Carolina Rover will take you, your family and friends out on a 3 - 4 hour Eco-tourism cruise that is guaranteed to be unlike any other attraction along the Grand Strand. Our comfortable shaded 40 ft. Pontoon boat will cruise on smooth inland waters to a remote barrier island where the Winyah Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean. We take you through a bird-watcher's paradise to South Carolina's oldest lighthouse, the Georgetown Light, 1811, that lit the way for two centuries for seafarers. You will then be able to explore and beachcomb where the sea unfolds her secrets depositing an ever-changing array of shelling opportunities. During this adventure you will see the sight of the Civil War wreck of the Union flagship, the USS Harvest Moon, and our naturalists will give an informative commentary on the historic plantation tidelands. Keep an eye out for such wildlife as Dolphins, Bald Eagles, Alligators, and Sturgeon! This cruise is a wonderful unique experience for all ages.

I saw this tour and said I would love to see a lighthouse I have never seen before. We boarded a nice pontoon boat with a cover over us so the sun did not beat down on us! We took a ride out to the Atlantic Ocean crossing several rivers and the Intracoastal Waterway to get there. The captain was... More

My group had a blast on this trip. The boat was comfortable and rode at a decent speed. The tour instructor was informative and funny and never spoke too much. Took about an hour and a half to get to the island and as we rode we learned about plantations and the ownership of the islands. Also got to spot... More

We loved this trip! It was a beautiful day and a little chilly on the boat but there were blankets for anyone who needed them. Our Captain and Guide were very friendly and knowledgeable! We never saw a porpoise but a few eagles put on a nice show for us! We had a great time on the beach and found... More

Great trip! We had a boat tour leaving at 2 p.m. on Tuesday before Hurricane Matthew. The tide had been high, delaying our arrival at the beach by a bit and the wind was chilly, making the water choppy. The naturalist on board was knowledgeable, friendly, funny. We learned about the wildlife in the area (saw bald eagles), the area's... More

It began raining while we were heading out and the crew as wonderful providing us with ponchos and waiting our the shower. Found lots of shells and this tour went out of the way to provide us with views of dolphins, alligators and eagles. Not just a shelling trip but a wonderful glimpse into the area shoreline and wildlife.

It's now a tradition! We want to do this every time we visit. We always have a huge haul of shells. We always have great luck in the ankle deep area.🐚

Educational and relaxing trip to north island, amazing nine mile beach and over 2 mile jetty built 100 years ago. Spotted 2 bald eagles, dolphins and plenty of shells! The captain and crew are the real deal.

Had a lot of fun on the boat tour. The guide and the captain kept us entertained and were very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the wildlife. We got to see some bald eagles which were amazing. One suggestion is to follow the guide is you want to find the good shells. Overall a fun time!

This Rover Boat Tour was a different experience and was enjoyable. The tour guides are excellent and explain things in depth and you can tell really know their information. This tour we mostly seen birds. We got really close to an American Bald Eagle and seen about 4 or 5 different Eagles in the wild which was cool. We did... More

Could have been a nice tour. In addition to a quick view of the light house, we saw dolphin, alligator, Osprey, Egrets, and Blue Herron. But the tour company needs to modify their rules to include not allowing passengers bringing dead creatures on board. On our return trip from the North Island and the shelling portion of the tour, one... More
